I'm assuming none will be built on day 45.

Yes it was, in order to add the number of dots built on day 45

Here's an update on the current crop of 0-day-old Rookie dots.

S39 D46: 5,777
S39 D48: 7,214
S40 D -6: 7,814

When we were still in Season 39, new Rookie dots were being made at a pretty good clip. However, since Season 39 rolled over to Season 40, the dot-creation rate dropped big-time, down to about 200 new dots a day. At this rate, we'll hit 9,000 dots for the Class of Season 40 sometime on Day 0... which would be about 2,000 fewer dots than the Class of Season 39.

Not looking good.

Hopefully nobody needs to recruit come mid minors.

Kinda ridiculous that some of the elite leagues are sitting on CPU teams. University has like 3 or 4 of them. That is just a total drag.

Pee Wee leagues 2, 3 and 4 could be eliminated. They are all mostly CPU teams. This doesnt take into account human owned teams that are all CPU.

Its not even necessary as I bet you'd find 6-10 teams in #2 or #3 that could be bumped into #1.

The problem is the sorting algorithm is too simple and needs human intervention to sort them out properly. Not that big of a deal when there are boatloads of teams & dots per age level which give the perception of competition, but it shows thru more when CPU teams win league #3 or #4 and promote into elite #1 next season.

And here's where I point out that I once offered to provide precisely that human intervention myself, solely on a volunteer basis, without even asking for any Flex or RP compensation.

Catch22 said, "No thanks."

They don't care. All they wanted was a league-sorting algorithm that would get things mostly-right with no human involvement at all, so they could set it and forget it. Once they got that, they decided they were done with it and moved on.

The thing that kills me is that with all the complexity of this game...the stupid sorting algorithm should be one of the easiest things to get right.

On day 48 make a global list of teams for the next season's leagues (e.g. University_E1_NEW)

Start with the lower level e1 (e.g. PREP_E1_OLD)...
--Get the 16 playoff teams (unlike the current system which only cares about top 8)
--Add a temp rank for each team of 1, 2....16 and add to *_E1_NEW

Move to lower level e2 (e.g. PREP_E2_OLD)...
--Get top 4 playoff teams
----Add a temp rank for each team of 5, 6, 7, 8 and add to *_E1_NEW

Repeat across all Elite & Competitive leagues (and Regular if needed) until there are 48 or more teams in *_E1_NEW
--This may necessitate having a second run thru for the next 8 teams in e1, e2, c3, etc. if there is not a 4th league at the age level

Now take *_E1_NEW...
--Find & remove CPU owned teams and place in *_E2_NEW, but STOP if teams would be trimmed to <32
----begin final E1_NEW cleanup if this stopped
--Find & remove teams with <40 human dots on the roster and place in *_E2_NEW, but STOP if teams would be trimmed to <32
----begin final E1_NEW cleanup if this stopped
--Begin final E1_NEW cleanup if this stopped
----Find the remaining highest ranked 32 teams and remove all other teams and place into E2_NEW

Repeat this process for E2 and remaining leagues by incrementing the top16 and 4 for each league by the same # (e.g. teams 17-32 in e1, teams 5-8 in e2, c3, etc. would be added to E2_NEW)

This would at least make certain that Elite 1 is always a human filled league (or darn close) and as competitive as it can be (short of human intervention).

That would work, Steve.

Unfortunately, you just wasted 10 minutes typing that up, because...
