I don't really recruit these days, but I rarely lose out on anything... but I'm usually not searching for more than 1 piece to the puzzle and it helps having bhall in the wings to seal the deal.

I suspect recruiting isn't nearly what it once was. I remember PM-ing agents to get them to build dots for our teams... and PM-ing agents about how their dots really were wanted and needed to complete our teams... polite stuff that usually got a reply, even if it was a polite "no". Now auto offers spam inboxes and organizations churn out dots for their own systems because it works better that way. So even a #1 recruiter today is incomparable to that of many seasons past. I doubt this is what GLB had in mind when they first started this thing... but it is what it is now.
