No DubJ I was actually trying to gather some actual information. and was going to attempt to do something to help the game. But people coming in and trolling and making it nearly impossible. to get a gauge on the info I was trying to gather makes the idea I had useless. the real sad thing is everytime someone actually tries to come up with something that could benefit everyone on the game. people thinking they are funny derails it and tries to make everything about them.

so you guys have fun trolling the thread and hopefully a Mod will lock it up soon.

Have you not read this thread? I've seen a funny made a couple of times but by GLB standards there has been little trolling ITT. It's almost as if you've been looking for a reason to get it closed from the start.

nope I have tried to discuss alot of different posts that I thought were actually serious posts in this thread. so I am not going to waste time arguing with you on this. and I don't have time to try to sift through the BS posts and the real helpful posts. so to me locking it up and then me just discussing the topic through PMs with individuals would be easier.

But seriously, I give this thread a 5/10.

It's not very original but it did get some replies. Personally, I feel the "do not troll" troll threads is pretty dated but whatever works, I suppose.

...... unless you own and operate all the dots and do all the coor'ing , you are in a coalition of sorts .....

..... one good aspect of the coalition ..... it forces leaders to compromise somewhat on the plan in order to show an ability to work together for the common good creating a broader basis of support .... or not

......one downside is that the c'lition is subject to the weaknesses of the c'litionists .....

...... one thing seen on some teams where you have a coalition , is that members become tools and are used strictly for the pleasure of the leadership ... this can lead to compromise and a de-valuing of an agent's self worth ..... or a feeling that they were betrayed ........

some say that in system of coalition , everyone has to compromise, even the biggest winner can never completely carry out the original plan and that can be disappointing leaving agents frustrated .....

in the worst case scenario frustrated agent/coalitionists can loose faith in obama(sic) all together

They can be great for camaraderie. It's nice to have a private forum to share thoughts about all types of subjects with generally little worry that you will be angered or embarrassed. The really large ones seen to have the most issues, so to me it seems the best ones are pretty tight/exclusive.

The downside, and why I'm no longer in a coalition, is that I felt it was a distraction and I felt it was putting a hindrance on my networking in general. This game can sap a lot of time and network drama is something I can live without. Also, whether it makes a difference or not is debatable, but I felt like not having a network affiliation enabled me to expand my personal network without fear of exclusion or guilt by association. I literally have had high profile agents tell me to fuck off because of people who i shared a coalition with or were GMs on my team.

this in my opinion can be true but can also be wrong to a extent. some networks that are in GLB are just social gathering forums that do niot focus on the game much if any at all. while other groups post build guides and will try to bring new agents into the group and try to teach them how to get better at the game. from my experience on this game the level of cares of different groups are about as vast as the level of cares about the leagues themselves.

Yeah this.

I belong to a bunch of "networks" But most of them are social.

I am in one or two that do great things for noobs, etc... With decent build guides and coords who actually try so noobs are not run off by boredom. I am also in some that field good teams and win trophies.

I am in some others that have good builders, but don't have a lot of cares, and still others that are basically just large private forums to post a little more freely than the mods allow in the main forums.

In some ways all of these networks are good for the game, in other ways, networks in general are a bad thing.

The positives are the forums, the collaboration, the ability to spread information to a group more efficiently than Bort and Co have done.

The negatives: Noobs with no network are pretty much doomed to quit. I also miss the days when you could recruit a halfway successful independent team in a few days without having to wait for everyone's networks to cherry pick the best dots, or hide away decent dots on farm teams who don't even try.

Would never work, the downfall of every network is that sort of action. You have to let the user do what they want. Impossible to dictate the actions of a random person on the interwebs.

Yeah I tell em when I join that I'm not exclusive. The game would be too boring to play otherwise.

Sorry, but I want a monogamous relationship with you. I am no longer sharing you with Dadd and Shake.

Dub gets it. This thread had very little trolling and yet Hatchman decried it and wants it to be locked.

There are a lot of good posts in this thread that summarize both the positives and negatives of networks, which just like anything in life have both. Having been in the same network for 4 years now the benefits of having a great group of close friends has easily outweighed the negative of the drama that occasionally arose.

I really think the impact of networks on the overall userbase has diminished. Just going merely by my own "feel" or perception it seems like there aren't many stronger to elite networks and there are more independent options now.

I think people pretty much got bored with being married to one network quickly and started hooking up with several. Later that basically transitioned into those agents signing with independents. I don't have any stats to back this up (nor do I think anyone else does) but it seems like there are more "network guys" signing with independents now.

Private forums that don't have any network affiliation are available to people outside a network. I don't think networks make that much of a difference as they did maybe a couple of years ago when they seemed to be all the rage.
