I'm not the penalty is not very big, and he's playing CPU teams that you seem to be ignoring, you also seem to be ignoring, he wants to use the WR's on defense.

The penalty is bigger than you think. It's enough to make a CPU team > human owned team with a CPU roster.

i have to take a penalty no matter what. which one is less bad. the OOP or the CPU?

You are taking both of them if you play the WRs at CB. You are being hit with up to a 25% penalty on the CPU dots no matter where you play the WRs. We don't know exactly the number on OOP but from watching replays it is pretty hefty for playing a dot on the other side of the ball.

so i'll start the cpu's, put the wr's as backups, set the min energy to 95, and return energy to 97. that way the cpu's play most of the time and the agents of the wr's are happy cuz their guy is on the field minimally

NO

WR's and CB's are interchangeable. It's been done many times before.

Don't confuse him, the OOP for WR at CB and vise versa is too great.

Why wouldn't you set the WR formations to 98/99 energy and pick some more 4 and 5 WR sets and run down the energy of the defense's secondary?

If this helps you at all, you want to play ANY dot at it's primary position. That simple. If you have TOO many CPU wr's, as Dub said... just cut and replace with dots you NEED elsewhere... and put your human dots in at WR. As for being a DC, I did exactly what you are doing now when I first came to GLB. Stay away from anything but the BASIC AI for now and, if inclined to learn/do more, then you can just peek into the advanced AI and have a look around. Just don't SET anything there and it won't mess up your Basic AI settings.

I learned AI by jumping in head first.

I've tried to help new coordinators learn step by step but they typically don't "get it" until they get their hands dirty and start messing around with AIs and watching replays. You can play around with presets for 30 seasons and still not know shit.
