Fact is: Catch is an EMPLOYEE. If I understand correctly, he is on the payroll. Therefore, he represents the company as a whole. His reaction was dickish. He went into the guys' AI, put him on blast on the forums, and then basically insulted him. I don't think this is so much "OMG I'M SO OFFENDED" (the OP isn't really bothered anyway), and more "Way to be completely unprofessional."

By focusing on the customer's behavior rather than the employee's behavior, you continue to miss the point. And jtrav's behavior in this thread hasn't warranted anything even close to the attitude Catch gave him in his response.

It is ALWAYS this. In every thread.

Is it possible that sometimes, just sometimes, feeling offended is justified?

Just because someone is offended doesn't mean they're being oversensitive. Sometimes it means the other person is being offensive.

If you were a customer at Walmart and your card got declined and you got on the loud speaker and told everyone that Walmart's machine is broke and it is not your fault. You likely wouldn't be treated with a whole lot of respect and dignity.

This is a forum though. So the equivalent of that doesn't look quite as rude. Because it is a forum. But some people always pretend like it isn't a forum of a video game.

Ya, but if I insult a manager in public they don't start yelling at me in the store in front of other customers trying to make an example of me. Customers are going to complain, it's up to the manager to defuse the situation by taking the high respectable road and not add gas. amiwrong?

You might not. I might not. Other people might not. However, there are plenty of people who expect an employee, especially one whose job is to interact with the customers on a regular basis, to behave in a professional and respectful manner. When those people see posts like this, or experience first hand things like this, their impression of GLB and how it is run takes a shot.

Might seem trivial, but public perception is one thing most companies have to worry about. When customers think that the people running the show are dicks, they're less likely to want to continue to play the game.

Would be similar to posting on Walmarts FB page about them having a broken machine, and a manager, or someone of a higher position, commenting and telling you you're an idiot for using that type of card.

Well at some point the manager would call security. In GLB we just suspend you.

Well GLB has a FB page and this definitely wasn't on that. So no it isn't. If Walmart had a public forum though it would be exactly like this and it probably would be handled better.

That's a better example than the one I've been using. Thank you.

So, you agree then that Catch could've handled this better.

Thank you.
