He has to pass the initial "pass or run play" vision check as do all defenders on every play.

what was the FS's checkdowns?

if he was set to "cover man HB weak" and the HB gets handoff pitch weak, chances are good the FS will pass the vision check... at lower levels kind of depends on what his next checkdowns are though

is cover man > blitz....

Are these plays still for a rushing QB or plays in general?

at lower levels it is IMO.

lots of times at lower levels a dot set to blitz will run right past a ball carrier on a rushing play and attempt to rape the QB while the ball carrier spends 15 seconds running down the dotball field 50 yards
