Really depends on the SA. Though none of the end tree SA's are really all that important to me in the grand scheme if they are red.

protector and spin seem like 2 pretty good options even when penalized.

That penalty is pretty significant - just think there are better ways to spend SP or utilize AEQ. Not saying there isn't any value in putting points into a penalized SA, but I'd only do it if there aren't any holes in the rest of the build.

I must have misread a Q/A back in the day then. I was under the impression that penalty was not that large.
