Have any kids? If so, you probably know how they can rack up a big bill in a hurry just with unforeseen medical expenses.

How about unexpected job lay offs?

Point is, sometimes &%@$ happens which can be overcome fairly quickly, but it simply needs a little flexibility. Right now, there is none. Most of the time, it's just a matter of bad timing.

Until a freeze option becomes available for agents, there is little they can do except scrap everything they've accomplished if they need to step away from the game for a bit. So, if there is a simple means of avoiding such, then that too should be an option made available.

Besides, what does it hurt to stagger the end of contracts and the renewal of team ownership by having them fall on separate days? Just because you question one's financial priorities doesn't make it a sound argument against the idea I proposed.

have both kids and job loss - worked around it

contracts end on day 40 - if you make team ownership extend to day 41 then day 42 becomes freeze day and you have killed 2 days in the off season to be as boring as all get out instead of the one we have now

400 FP

if that makes or breaks you, then you should not be playing

If you are going to need retirement flex to renew ownership all you have to do is send a ticket in to support and they will move the renewal back a day. Goes on like that from there on out so your team will always be up for renewal on day 41.

Dots can be created all the way up to day 48 with no loss of TPs.

Although I would agree with Dub that teams should renew after day 40 for flex reasons, I think that would hamper the roll over on day 41 a bit more probably.

Some statements on here are really dumb...to the guy who says go through the team owner and get released..its the right way. I do agree that since a contract was signed the team owner should have input, even the team owner can do nothing after the 12 game, so to be released you have to bail on the team way too early.. which sucks even more.

Raiders12 has the right idea...make it a request that the team owner agrees to and the contract is paid in full and the player is immediately retired. This would in no way impact recruiting or give any team an advantage.

I would like to see a mod take a serious look at this idea and maybe put it up for the voting process and bring it to Catch/Bort's attention.

This should have happened a long time ago!

It could easily be put in that an agent could request to retire his player and the team owner could be sent a notice and agree or disagree. Once agreed to, then the appropriate funds removed from the team finances to cover the remaining salary for that player and the player can be immediately retired and not released so they wouldn't be able to change plans and try to circumvent the signing restrictions during the playoffs.

Pretty simple and covers all "concerns" about it, I believe.

I didn't say that. I stated if you need retirement flex to renew ownership you can send in a ticket and support will move your expiration back one day. They've been doing this for some time.

-1 I have enough going on during the playoffs.. Recruiting is made for after the playoffs.. not during..

This has nothing to do with recruitment. The dot would HAVE to be retired as a part of the process, and the team would HAVE to be finished its season. So it would not HAVE To recruit anyone nor would these dots become free agents. They would go straight from the roster room to the retirement file.

A no from me. I see it as a player has signed a contract so he should honor the contract completely

+1 I ran into a tough time this month and I actually am using some retired players flex to renew my team. I wish I could just get it done and over with today but I cant so I had to pm support and will have to do it again on Thursday in order to retain my team.

shit happens in life. I can afford to do what I do but a situation arose and this idea would really make my life alot easier. To be honest though I was about to say this would have been the only time but as I think back I wish I could have done it a few other times for various reasons.
