Best BBQ ever is from a place that no longer exists- I think the owner had a heart attack.

Was called the Rib Shack and it was located just south of Alexandria, VA. It had the best ribs I've ever had- melt in your mouth meat that had been smoked properly, a sauce that perfectly complimented the meat, good beans, and, most of all, onion loaf. I fucking love onion loaf.

Have tried BBQ now all over the South, but no place with ribs has hit it on every level like the Rib Shack did. And most places don't serve onion loaf anymore.

I used to go to Willard's in Chantilly. It'll do in a fix, but it won't make you forget the Rib Shack I doubt (never been there to compare). Willard's is hit or miss sometimes. Probably about 2/3s hit and 1/3 miss from the times I visited.

If driving between Austin and Dallas/Ft Worth area, one ought to stop here for the kolaches:

that is the one all the travelers hit up and the people of West laugh at. Go to the real one further into town

Salt Lick outside of Austin is good but County Line is probably just as good in Austin. I don' t know anything about BBQ in the DFW area. In Houston, it depends on what you want. I'll go to Goode Company, Luling City and once in awhile Demeris. They all have good brisket.

I flew through Memphis a couple years back grabbed a pulled pork sammich in the Airport and that shit was on point! Imagine if I wasn't in an airport and it was some ribs or brisket. I am wanting to go to Memphis and try some more...
