I would hope so. For the record, I'm not saying that there shouldn't be rules in place. I just think that the only people who want to make a fuss about it change their tune as soon as they are in a position to do so themselves. I find it hard to have respect for people who are unwilling to practice what the preach. That's all.

No hiding that this comment refers to my comments back in S20 and what I am doing with TIA now...

I have said it before and will say it again, I took TIA to Gold not because my beliefs in fairness changed, but because I just don't give a fuck any more, which was the clear message I got back in S20. I tried to do the right thing by getting a movement together to get some rules changed to make PWG more fair, but was shit upon for my effort. So, right or wrong, I will take advantage of the general apathy that plagues PWG until someone else takes up the crusade and is more successful than I was.

To be honest I think people are using you as a convenient excuse for what they are doing themselves.

I wasn't about in S20 so i'll presume everything played out much like it is now.

There won't be a crusade because it appears the majority are apathetic at best, opportunistic at worst.

So be it.

The tricky thing is: there aren't 32 good PW OC's or 32 good PW DC's.

Gerr, it really isn't directed specifically at you. While yes, I think you fall into the category, you are not the only one. And it isn't only about this topic either. It's about whining in general. The only time you hear guys complaining is when they have something that doesn't work for them. When on the positive side of one of these issues, nobody picks up the flame of "fairness" and carries it. Everybody hates the issues with this game when they are losing, but they seem to forget that we are all dealing with the same bugs, issues, inconsistencies, bad rules, etc... I'm just pointing out how people will complain about something only to the point where a change would benefit them. Once they are on the positive side, it's amazing how quickly they forget "the cause" and pipe down.

just cool that they actually have a stance

lol that's right.

like any of us are gonna write support because a bunch of goofy screens and counters gave us 100+ points and a huge win

honestly, the fact that GLB has changed to age based leagues, instead of level, indicates to me that Bort sees opportunists as his primary target market. If you want to succeed beyond the first 8-10 games of either of the lowest level leagues (pee-wee being one of them), then you have to boost; otherwise you will be falling behind further and further at a rate of about 3 levels per season. My minors team did ok about 4-5 seasons ago (the last season before the switch to age based leagues, I think), but when teams boosted at playoffs we were like 8-9 levels down and didn't have CE...we still made it pretty far in playoffs...but the next season was a distaster. and I just gave up trying the season after that ok, i'm off topic now...back to my point: Bort likes opportunists and consistently favors them because they buy the most flex.

hey wait a sec dude ...no point trying to make an example of me atm coz my team is CPU! ...but that being said, whether I remake my team next season is still under consideration, but I can assure all here that I would deliberately lose the championship on my silver team if it ever came to that point coz It just wouldn't be right imo! ...and I am adamant when I state that I will never DC for more than one gold team, and I won't bring another team to gold whilst having a connection with another gold team! ...it's just not me to work with conflicts of interest ...I am a one team man! ...my priority atm is to keep lunchbox in gold and in turn, remind you guys of my worth as a DC!

I have never wavered on my opinion, and I was content to let this all pass well before I joined Lunchbox, so pull your heads in!

If there are plays in GLB that are so unplayable as to make the game unbalanced then those plays should be removed.

I don't know if you are referring to my use of 'goofy screens and counters' - but its a legitimate way to attack all those multi DB defensive formations - safeties blitzing from the outside every down.

Those formations in themselves are an attempt to rig the game - how often in RL would you see 1st and 10 I Form responded to with 5/6 DB's?

Teams have tried the same against my teams and they can't make it work consistently because i've gameplanned for it.

The definition of an opportunist isn't someone who boosts their team in the regular leagues - as you say thats what it takes to survive there and the reason I left and came to Pee Wee.

An opportunist is someone who takes advantage of loop-holes, and those less experienced under the guise of something altruistic.

Most of the gold league has had excellent results with screens and counters because of buggy DB responses (over pursuit, standing there a half a dot away and not tackling, etc). I'm not singling you out (or anybody else), I'm just stating a fact that defensive dots are known to do some screwy stuff right now, and the screens and counters are some of the best plays for beating those screwy DBs. It was an example of anybody benefiting from potential bugs in the sim.

A lot of other plays are also benefiting...but my reason for using those was just to play on the fact that so many people have been raging in the forums lately about screens and counters.

Of course, the problem isn't the offensive play...it's the buggy DB behavior. Fix that and I'd be a happy man. Every time i've seen something along this lines mentioned to support or in one of the forums, the admins tell us the sim is working as intended. I even posted something about in the last Q and A and Bort responded saying he'd need to see some plays, but it's prolly just vision, agility, or tackling.

The point was just to build on what stepsides said with a bit of a joke: we're all more likely to get pissed about something that negatively affects us than we are something that helps us.

I will admit that the DB responses aren't all that good. But to be fair, most of the gold league is having good results b/c that's what the other team's defense is giving up. I actually like the fact that one base defense can't stop everything really well anymore. There should always be an advantage for those who spend the time scouting, and that should apply to defense as well.

Most DC's are focused on stopping other things, so that's what is open against a lot of teams. But this does NOT mean that you cannot stop them. There are teams that have stopped these plays very well. To do so may open other areas in their defense, but that's what scouting is for.

It is possible to eliminate most of those problems with the screen plays defensively I think.

These are low level DoTs so they are going to lack play recognition - all you can do is give them the best chance to make a stop with a combo of player build, DoT placement etc.

PWU hit me with quite a few screen plays and we shut them down for the most part or at least enough times to convince Auto-tune to stop calling them

It goes without saying that you can't stop those plays where the DB just runs off the field for no reason - although i've heard alot less about this in recent days - maybe the issue fades when the DoT gets a little older.....

Maybe DC's just moan more, or louder, or whatever but I like the screen plays and counters - teams have shut down the outside running game with DB placement (either by blitzing or zone) so you were left with low% passes or bashing it up the middle against DT's that make mincemeat of most O-lines.
