Any LB, safety, and CB needs to have an option of Weak side contain OR strong side contain. We move our dots around in DPC and I don't trust GLB to choose whether my dot should be cheating weak or strong.
CB should be included. If I want to put the safety on the WR and use the CB to contain it should be allowed.
Maybe this should be aother choice in the default drop down. Cover HB, and then the drop down would be zone, blitz, contain weak, contain strong.
I like the idea, but there should be a penalty delay when a team runs inside. It's like safeties set to deep strong/weak, and they start moving to their zone, recognize a run play and reach the line of scrimmage before you can blink.
You want strategy, then their should be a trade-off. Right now in GLB there is no such thing.
Originally posted by Rage Kinard Need a setting so that DC can set either OLB or S to have containment responsibility on running plays.
Then if the LB or S reads run (or is set to run focus and is failing vision checks) their movement should be to the outside rather than inside toward the QB or another ball carrier for the first 5 ticks of a play.
I would prefer to be able to have a directional blitz... so the ROLB, for example, could blitz to the Right and therefore move into the containment area. It adds much more strategy and many more options if all players would blitz left, right, or straight ahead.... right now, it's sorta silly that a guy can only blitz straight ahead.

im against it. i have personally created D plays to make this sort of thing happen. if everyone is able to have there guys play this way, those of us who have figured out how to create good D's get penalized and everyone catches up. if you are crafty enough you can set up plays where the LB and S cover the outside

This is the kind of crap I'm talking about here. The SS is lined up way outside by the CB. Yet he commits inside letting the FB seal him opening up the lane to the outside.
The easiest way to get containment now is to shoot a DE out into the flat.
However, does that really resemble an actual football play?
I'm surprised Bort hasn't added a penalty to DE attributes the wider they get from the tackle box, like they have as the get farther away from LOS, like he added when creative DCs were dropping DEs into deep zones.
