Maybe not the worst.... But they definitely are quite attention-starved. I think they just saw how much recognition the Cobra Kai got last season for taking this approach and are trying to mimic it. The only difference.... Kai had the talent to back up being an asshole to everyone. And it actually usually turned out kind of humorous.
When the Playbook does it... it's just humorous because of how much they fail at the important aspect. They should master the actual game before they move on to the supplemental flavors of it.

However, with prose being a literary form... and nothing at all to do with a stylistic or artistic license... I really fail to see you can write "with" it, rather than just writing it. It's not my fault you guys are having a bad season; it's not my fault your team is mediocre; it's not my fault you guys like to open your mouths as often as possible to draw attention away from your abysmal record.
