LOL, baseball more than any other profesional sporthas HUGE problems. I do live in Philly and LOVE the fact that we can sign Lee, but unfortunatly half the teams are already eliminated from the playoffs. Until MLB puts some sort of cap into its league it will always be the same 6-10 teams in the WS

Since 2000:

World Series participants:
Texas, San Francisco, New York Yankees, Philadelphia, Tampa Bay, Boston, Colorado, St. Louis, Detroit, Chicago White Sox, Houston, Florida, Anaheim, Arizona, New York Mets (15 teams = 1/2 of all franchises in 10 years)

SuperBowl participants:
New Orleans, Indianapolis, Pittsburgh, Arizona, New York Giants, New England, Chicago, Seattle, Philadelphia, Carolina, Oakland, Tampa Bay, St. Louis, Baltimore (14 teams = 14/32 of the league in 10 years - less than MLB)

NBA Finals participants:
Los Angeles, Boston, Orlando, San Antonio, Cleveland, Miami, Dallas, Detroit, New Jersey, Philadelphia (10 - in the league where the highest percentage of teams make the playoffs?)

MLB = revenue sharing and luxury tax
NFL = hard cap
NBA = soft cap

Which league does the best job of getting different teams to the championship round?

That stat surprises me about football to baseball. NBA? I don't know what this is except that they sometimes play where the flyers play.

Just curious, what is the NHL breakdown?

I do believe that the small market teams in MLB that made the series actually spent money that particular season

Ex the diamondbacks had schilling and Randy Johnson

Ex. The rangers last season bought vlad, cliff lee and bengi Molina

Ex the marlins grabbed Kevin brown fir 106 million then traded him
the next season

NHL:

Chicago, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Detroit, Anaheim, Ottawa, Carolina, Edmonton, Tampa Bay, Calgary, New Jersey, Colorado, Dallas (that includes 99-00 since there was a strike taking out one season) - 13

the 2003 World Champion Florida Marlins had a payroll of just over 49 million, the Yankees, who they beat in the world series had a payroll of 153 million dollars.
