This. The NCAA can discipline the team/university, but other than that, they are fairly powerless when it comes to legal things.


And tbh, Auburn shouldn't even be top 5. Oregon should easily be #1, based on the fact that they only team that hung with them had to cheat to stay in the game (Cal, 15-13). Auburn has caught the biggest breaks against Mississippi State, Clemson (that one was awful to watch), South Carolina, Kentucky, and this week Alabama.

Cam Netwon is a talent, but sucks Auburn will be 0-12 after the NCAA/FBI finish up.

It's not that I hate Auburn, I could care less for them tbh. I think they are a good team, not the best but a good team. I just don't like the fact that they cheated to get Newton there.

I had nothing against them the first few weeks, but when all these rumors came out I just started hating on them.

There has NEVER been an accusation that anyone from Auburn paid or offered to pay for Newton. The only fingers have been pointed at MSU. Am I saying that it didn't happen, I don't know.
If any of you have ever been to Starkville, you would understand that they would have to pay people to go there, the place sucks!!!

Exactly. Plus the reports where Cam was upset he wasn't going to MSU, but said that his dad said he had to go to Auburn b/c of what they were 'offering'. And then suddenly his Dad's very poor church (the one that was being condemned) mysteriously had the $100,000+ needed for renovations?

Many people have been convicted by an abundance of circumstantial evidence...there is an abundance here.

From all those universities??? Oklahoma was recruiting him, Stoops is on the record as saying there were no shinanigans with his recruiting there. There has been no accusations about any other school than Mississippi State, who happens to have a former player that works for a rogue agent according the the NFLPA.

The church renovations were paid for by the older son who plays in the NFL.

I am not being naive. Just waiting for proof. I was an athlete at Auburn from 92-94, I know what CAN go on during recruiting and such. I am just waiting for proof. I do not condone that kind of behavior, I just want proof. Not rumors and speculation.

You are correct, there is an abundance of circumstantial evidence, but the NCAA and the SEC have said that they want facts in this case, no circumstantial evidence.

I am glad I could bring some good chatter to these forums without all the personal stuff and reporting for this and that.

It has been nice to have a good debate with you guys without all the other bs that we have seen in the last couple of weeks!!!

Num 1......^^This is the quote from Cecil Newton why he did not want his son to go to MSU. Really can't read much into that but hell here it is.

Num 2.... Cannot believe Kenny Rodgers at all, his story constantly changes and he said Cecil Newton aske for 100 to 180 grand. Pretty big window imo. But don't really care considering the source. Also, John Bond's story has changed slightly each time he has said it. If it is true, imo, you should be able to tell correctly each time.

Num 3...MSU reported some of their findings as soon as hey got them but did not report EVERYTHING until July.
So they continued to recruit Cam Newton after this offer? There are other violations that MSU committed that I cannot remember. Shit like any former player or person that gives money to the football program cannot be involved in the recruitment of any player (Can' find that article)

Num 4....1 or 2 things happened for Auburn, They recruited him legitimately or they did not. I can't say b/c I do not know. In my eyes I would not PURPOSELY hold a press conference saying "He is eligible". Whereas, MSU officials have not come out and confirmed anything but then again they could be under a gag order.

A lot of what ifs. As Ping said it is very circumstantial.

Here is the kicker, which ever side you are on either b/c you dont like Auburn or Cam Newton, or you think Cam is scum, or if you are on Auburn's side how are you going to feel if and I say IF the truth comes out. If your opinion is wrong do you feel apologetic?

Whether Cam/Dad took the money isn't the only reason I think he is scum. Look up his history with the Gators.

hell that means half the Gators squad should be considered scum. have you seen the arrest record at Florida lately. Tennessee and Georgia are the only 2 teams in the nation that may have a worse arrest record than them. Are the other kids that got in trouble scum too??? Is Chris Rainey not scum for threatening to kill his ex-girlfriend, or is it ok now because he is back on the field???
I think you are singling Cam out because he is no longer at Florida and because of the success that he is having.

I think you are singling Cam out because he is no longer at Florida and because of the success that he is having.

As I hate to say it but that is true, most SEC teams have bad people on them. Also.... I was EXTREMELY dissapointed that Rainey was allowed back on the team after they dismissed him then changed it to a suspension.
