Indy was and will always be a USA team to me. One season of dominance in OPL does not make then a top OPL team historically in my eyes...even if they are still waving the OPL flag in the WL.

This exactly!! They just used OPL to springboard into the WL.
Those wanting to discredit WSI because they left should be ashamed. OPL has always been ragged on as being the worst region (couldnt be any further from the truth but that is beside the point). WSI's dominance went along way towards dispelling that tag. Some will argue that they thew it all away when they were destroyed in USAPL but that team was a shell of its former self after Havoc and RUN HARD parted ways with WSI/Nautilus. Also, I find it hard for anyone to blame them for leaving (alpha was always weak... TIT, CCC and OPT were really their only competition... Mean Machine fizzled as WSI gained steam). I am certain they would have never left had there been a WL and an opportunity for them to advance and represent OPL against GLB's best. I think you would find that many old OPL supported their move and saw it as just that... WSI representing OPL against GLB's best (USAPL).

Didn't the original Indy team start in OPL, and then disband, and then merged with another team, and came back to OPL?
I might've been reading this somewhere - Not sure where though

And how did WSI do in USAPL, if memory serves me, they fell apart

Did you even read my post? The bold describes you. They might as well have changed their name when they moved over there... again, Havoc was not part of that team (single biggest reason why they dominated... Havoc was the best in the game at that time). Also, irrc RUN HARD took Adam Avalanche and the few other players he had on WSI back to his team Parma when WSI moved. It really wasnt a fair representation of the team OPL faced for many seasons.

Back in the day, WSI, Mean Machine, SoCAL and the Nites were the teams to beat for bragging rights, but there were quite a few other capable teams at that time that beat up on each other week in and week out (most of them in Zeta but Alpha had some quality reps also).
Although I am proud of Indy's accomplishments, they were a USA team originally as lukin83 mentioned, and WSI was an OPL team that moved to USAPL to play against who were considered the best at that time, but without some key agents/players that had brought them their success in OPL.

I'm all for considering WSI as one of the best OPL teams ever... But the whole problem was the fact that they moved... That's like saying INdy doesn't deserve to be an OPL rep either...
You can't have it one way, and not the other way...
You either have to concede the Indy is an OPL rep, or Not allow WSI to be a OPL rep...
You have to take the bad with the good... And trust me I run my flag high on OPL... I love this region, and I wouldn't want Bort or anyone to condense the leagues or anything - Oceania is, I believe, the toughest region there is, top to bottom

WSI is considered among the OPL elite because of their dominance during their time here. Yes, they left, but that does not change the fact that they were the face of OPL for a large part of the early days of GLB. Indy, on the other hand, used a weak OPL as a way of getting back into the WL quickly (kudos to them, as it worked) and one season in OPL does not make you one of OPL's best teams historically. That is like saying that the Ravens are one of the best teams in NFL history because the have one Super Bowl ring. One season is insignificant in the grand scheme of things.
No disrespect for Indy, as they are and have been a quality team for quite some time. Just not in OPL.

http://goallineblitz.com/game/team.pl?season=7&team_id=932 - Once the proud Tahi . . .
Season 7: 11-5 overall record as the first wave of slow builds promoted
Season 6: 15-1 overall, 2nd round loss
Season 5: 15-1 overall, 2nd round loss (WSI's revenge)
Season 4: 15-1 overall, Championship loss to Banzai
It was a short lived run because of the rise of slow builders and my inability to cut ties with the players and agents that got us there. But I think we hung pretty good, beating the likes of WSI, Mean Machine, VKS, CCC (repeatedly) . . .

No disrespect to the TiTs, but you gotta admit the 4 teams I mentioned had larger targets on their backs.

We were always too nice. We illicit-ed hugs, not hatred.
I miss those days. I miss my team. Glad to see Banzai back . . .

Looks like they were Oceania from at least S9
iirc... that was their farm team or something of that nature... in other words they moved the players and the name (or maybe just the name) but not the team at a later date.
ETA: ok I just looked... the Oceania version became the Groupies season 12 (spent 3 seasons as the Groupies in Oceania... post implementation of WL)
