There were tons of great teams in OPro back in the day

I was a part of MTD and Brisbane . I think we only beat Banzai one time and got rolled quite a few times by them. Samoa was always a battle as well.

No way was USAPL better than CPL "by far,." especially when you look at what those teams did when they finally went up against one another. USAPL & CPL were head and shoulders above the rest, though. SAPL was really just a few awesome teams in an otherwise ordinary region.

That said they, and teams like Vanuatu Kava Sharks, Tasmania Tigers, Sth Queensland Crushers, Cook Island Convicts (I am sure I am forgetting more), were huge reasons why Zeta was the Meat Grinder of OPL.

Tasmania was considered top 25 at one point, so I think they could have made your original cut.

I agree with you on something for once.

SAPL had two truly elite teams and a couple more that were pretty good (Porto is the only one I can think of off the top of my head).

This ^^

When I think of old SLAP the only teams that come to mind as solid elite teams are Santiago Benitos, KrAzY MoNKeYs and Porto Alegre Smugglers. The few other good teams were Buenos Aires Barracudas, Sooner State Top Dawgz, Manus Thunder and maybe throw in Cobra Kai who really were more talk than a tough matchup. That was pretty much it to my recollection.

I was mainly going off all the overall tourney records from those years where it was very very obvious usapl was head and shoulders above. CPL had 2-3 great teams every season that were as good as usapl's 2-3 best teams but after that it got dicey fast. I mean, you can look at all those head to heads and the performance by league in tourneys and it was clear. Arguing dryden/hali/sfsf/drinkin vs mem/ww/mm/ofg/gamblers/greenbay/etc... is a different thing. The 9seed in usapl east i think season 10 making the final 4 in the hazy tourney (which back then tourneys were a bit more prestigious than currently) was pretty telling as well.

Regardless, no one really cares about regions these days because it's about winning in WL. Would Pro still work with decline and no WL? Would pro work with WL and no decline? I dunno. One reason for leagues and teams collapsing that people dont' talk about often is that it has been 2years since GLB started. That's a long time to be playing essentially the exact same game with minor tweaks. Don't blame some people for just quitting. Especially considering the time it takes to be competitive
