I stand corrected. 16 penalties for 80 yards in the last game. Penalties can still kill the game.

At least you know you have a chance at attempting a long pass if you get that false start.

I think it's been boosted too much. PeeWee will really suck if teams can complete 75%+ of their passes with ease.

I hope it's still being played with and will be toned down a bit before the beginning of the season. If we're seeing 80% passing now at level 1 with SP's unassigned just imagine what it'll be like during the playoffs.

Anyone agree or disagree?

I've only seen 3 games, but I agree.. Way more completions than last season.. I'm guessing all the whining finally reached the top.

Just go with the flow. I'm trying to figure out how to get my QB's to run the zone read so I can implement the spread offense.

And players with less than 30 catching shouldn't be catching.. Really..

From watching my game, and a couple of others, it does appear passing got a little bit overpowered. But I say leave it as it is, don't throttle it back..

Defense's will have to adjust, and DC's will have to understand they will no longer be able to run shutdown defenses (like last season), rather the team that hemorrhages the least points wins (so DC's your job is to get a few stops here and there, OC's you better not get stopped!!!!).

I think this is a more fun version of peewee and will bring the league back from the brink (where a number of owners last season were prepared to just give up [a number did], and a number of others were about to declare a jihad on GLB ).

So before everyone complains that they are being raped by the passing game, remember ....YOU CAN PASS TOO!!! rape em right back! ...also as everyone stacks zones and double covers WR's, the running game will still be an important part of the offense.

But, it should make for closer games and a good season..

Pressure still does have an effect because a little pressure here and the Qb missed the open receiver.

i think we could have different results once SPs are applied...i think right now the WRs get open to easily, and CBs havent been built as pass defenders...plus most DBs are probably set on run focus as well

Good point on the run focus for the CBs.

I'm game either way. Thunder and LE bring up good points about how much more dynamic Pee Wee will become.

I still lean to the side that your players builds should dictate what they can and can't do. 10 throwing QBs should not be able to throw the ball effectively. Same goes for 10 catching WRs being able to catch the ball routinely.

I do agree with LE that a 60 speed 40 throwing QB should be effective as a dual threat QB.

Still have to consider that passing can be effective if Bort turns this back a notch because we haven't assigned skill points yet.

I repeat. I'm game either way.

We need to throw out the thought that this is pee wee. Its a league where we pay money. This isnt real life so forget that real life pee wees dont pass. If it was compared to real life, players would be retiring around the age of 20. So once we get over the fact pee wees is just a name for this league, we can then see the better picture.

I get your point, but I still think HAS to be viewed as PeeWee b/c we have young, underdeveloped players. Most builds are not well-rounded: players have certain strengths and weaknesses. I like that trade-off part of the game...your receiver can be dynamic after he catches the ball but will drop a lot of passes or vice-versa (for example). Currently, a really fast receiver with few points in catching can catch the ball the majority of the time...there is no trade-off. That's why I disagree with you. This IS PeeWee b/c most players cannot do everything well like the upper level players can.

But now that receivers and quarterbacks can do really well regardless of builds, it upsets the trade-off balance. If a cornerback has the speed to stay in stride with a fast receiver, he will likely not have the agility or vision to make the cut to the ball to stop the completion...nor will he have much shot at being able to stop the run. The defense has to make a trade-off, why doesn't the offense? So the response to be able to stop the passing game is to either play zone behind your corners or to double them. You can't do that in PeeWee w/o giving up big yds/carry to outside & QB runs b/c tagging won't work b/c there is no trade-off for builds (meaning rushing QB's can throw really well, too).

I agree a lot with what Thunder said as well, like the roll with it and the you can throw the ball, too. I'm not vocal on this issue because I fear change, nor because I think this will hurt my teams (I'm quite confident in my coaching abilities). I just think this messes with a core fundamental of PeeWee strategy...the build choice. Will your guy be built for strength or speed, b/c it's tough to do both very well is a key component to the PeeWee game since these are young players. But now that one aspect of the game doesn't have to make that choice, it will have a ripple effect on all of the positions that still have to make a choice.

I wasn't a huge fan of running the ball 98% of the time either...nor was I against improving the passing game. I just think that it was overdone. I'd like to see quarterbacks that focus on passing be able to throw, and I'd like to see receivers who have high catching be able to catch, and receivers with speed and agility be able to turn a short throw into a big gain (if they catch it). I just don't like a QB with 10 throwing to make mostly perfect throws, or a receiver with 8-10 catching snagging 90% of their passes. Like the other positions, I think you should have to make a choice: will your QB be a good runner or a good thrower (or a combo that does both average), will your receiver be a speed guy, a possession guy, or a blocker?

Force the players to have to choose to excel in the passing game to be good at it (knowing they're sacrificing strengths in other areas). That's my main point.
