If you are referring to this from the FAQ "The next best eligible team from that region's Pro League will be promoted instead.", then I think the key word in it is "eligible."

It obviously isn't defined there, but Bort has alluded to the at-least-one-playoff-win line as the cut-off that he likes. Yes, it should be written in stone somewhere, but it isn't (AFAIK.)

If that is the case, then once only one of the four one-playoff-win APL teams accepted, the next best option for an APL team was to invite back Dakar who had made a very good showing in the WL in S12. Makes sense to me. They accept. Done deal.

Ok, very nice post...But when a gutted team (LOL) who did DESERVE the right to be here comes to the WL in their first season....Wouldn't the great OZ, I mean Bort, say Hey I have to make sure that this doesn't happen again???? And write some black and white rules in stone?

But Turnit, I appreciate your honest answer...and will stop saying anything. It just pissed me off Bort calls out the APL, but yet the whole story was not told.

He did not call out the entire APL. See the wording, PRETTY MUCH. LOL happened 2 seasons ago, stop whining about it. We all know you dislike LOL.

I read your whole dribble, and still left out the part of this question...Why does Bort have an option to decline a promotion to the WL?????? Jerry, you come off big and bad, but you lack the mental power of answering a single question. Be mad at Bort for letting LOL, and their gutted team in the WL, and not thinking if a league all declines the promotion that a 7-9 team would get in....That is on Bort...BISCUT

Vegas, there are a whole bunch of things we have got to answer. First of all, let's talk about this rule issue because you always bring this up. We opposed promotion for teams because we didn't believe in a timetable.

I opposed promoting a team that had no timetable, and was open- ended, giving a blank check to the World League. We had a difference on the promoting team. We didn't have a difference on whether or not we were going to be promoting anyone.

We had a legitimate difference, and I absolutely understand the difference between fair promotion and unfair promotion. And the question that everyone has to ask is not whether or not we are employing a particular approach in the World League once we have made the decision to be there.

The question is, was this wise? We have seen some leagues worsen, deteriorate. We need more quality teams there. We need more playoff ready teams there. You, in the rush to go into World League, said, you know what? It shouldn't matter that we've not been successful in APL. There are still teams who can pose a threat to you there.
