damn... one more season and we'll be up there with the big boys...

Has anyone else not had their 100 level sidelines not sell out? I got season ticket sales for the section but not the full amount and not a single ticket sale more there and yet all other sections have sold out for the first 5 games... I am going to drop the price a bit and wait a day or two to panic and send a bug message but all previous seasons I had sold out the section within the first two days.... strange.

Oh and we maxed at 22510 at the Cherry Poppin' Palace

Eastern Stadium Tour

It is about four weeks into Season 5 and by now everyone has had plenty of time to upgrade their seating. I figured we could do another look around the Eastern Conference and see what shape the stadiums are in. A stadium is probably the most important thing for the future of a GLB team. If a team cannot keep up with the salaries and bonuses they will eventually lose players to a team that can. We will look at the top eight stadiums, by overall capacity, in the conference this week.

1. Tecmo All-Stars - Tecmo Bowl
The Tecmo All-Stars were once the great champions of the Eastern Conference, moving up to the A#6 league. They have shiny trophies and a huge freakin' stadium! Now they are a team of new players and have come back to the BBB#12 to build up their team once again. With this big of a stadium the money will be rolling in, although their loss streaks will hurt their fan support.

Overall Seating Capacity - 55520

2. 10-Yard Fight - Nintendo Entertainment Stadium
Looks like we have all the 200s built and fully upgraded. This is about as big a stadium as one can expect at this level. It took some shrewd spreadsheet making and resisting the angry mobs of people asking for more money last year but it will pay off in the end.

Overall Seating Capacity - 55520

3. New Jersey Blaze - The Hot Box
The Blaze have a fully built 200 section and look pretty solid stadium wise. The Hot Box will most likely be one of the hardest places for opponents to play in. With all the beer flowing and rowdy fans the 12th man will definitely be a big advantage. That is, if GLB actually takes home field into any account. Which I doubt it does unfortunately.

Overall Seating Capacity - 52720

4. Ottawa Outbreak - Ground Zero
Ground Zero is shaping up pretty nicely! They have their 100 section fully built with some room for expansion seating. They have a 200 level sideline and three 200 level corners as well. They seem well on the road to being a money making machine. Watch out for this team. With money comes the big contracts and of course that is a huge part of free-agency these days.

Overall Seating Capacity - 32880

5. Philadelphia Pigeons - Lincoln Financial Field
The Pigeons have some work to do still on the 100s. They have chosen to build up the 200 sidelines before completing the lower bowl. I have to think they have the right strategy and have probably pondered where to go with their money very carefully. With 200 level Luxury and Club seating comes big money. I think that is one of the highest returns as far as expansion seating goes. A team has to be successful to have the higher level income fan support though and this team is sitting pretty I imagine.

Overall Seating Capacity - 29990

6. Saint Paul Vulcans - Fire and Brimstone
Fire and Brimstone is a very scary name for a stadium. I imagine them as having a scary looking fan base of Saint Paulians made up in all sorts of customs and such. Yea, I have that kind of time. The Vulcans have also been very shrewd and strategical in how they are putting together their stadium. They only completed the 100 level corners and then went right into the 200 level sidelines. This strategy will maximize every dollar spent.

Overall Seating Capacity - 31220

7. Tampa Bay Krakens - Shipwreck Field
This is where all the demolished giants of the oceans come to rust. This is also where an opposing team can be greated by fans with green and blue face paint. Tampa Bay has some great weather until the Hurricanes but that is another story. I think the Krakens have done a great job upgrading their stadium. They have chosen a more conventional approach and have completed the entire 100 section. This will be the year they build up and judging from their early success they will have no problems doing so.

Overall Seating Capacity - 28760

8. Texas Wrecking Crew - Landry Stadium
The 8-bit reincarnation of the great coach Tom Landry playing on the jumbo-tron is really something to behold! Fans here are generally hostile to anyone in burgundy and gold. I personally wouldn't go anywhere near this place. The TWC has done a great job building up their stadium with the full 100 level built. I am sure they will look to expand and grow their 200 levels in the off-season.

Overall Seating Capacity - 25040

I hope everyone has fun playing with virtual money this year.

Thanks,
Chris
