Because Bort has said that linemen engaged in a block get to do tackling rolls, but aren't recorded as a missed tackle if they fail.

Not to mention the ridiculous attribute gains for STR/SPD/AGI on a DE. Wasting SP's on tackling before getting them to a decent level is a good reason to retire.

So you're saying you'd drop SPs into tackling before finishing STR/SPD/AGI?

don't think he's saying that. But it wouldn't be foolish if you did. It makes way more sense as a DT to do this though.

Depends, I did on my NT.

I probably wouldn't on a DE though. But if it comes to continuing to put SP in AGI/SPD when they are past the 73 cap, then yeah I'll probably just get tackling instead.

That specific argument doesn't hold as much water, since tackling gets the same gains. The other three are more important on 99.9999999% of builds, but if I wanted to build a high tackling DE, the level gains wouldn't be an argument against it.

Fair enough. The primary attribute bonuses on a DE are just too good to pass up.

FWIW I didn't stop at 73. I'll have plenty of time to raise vis/conf/tackle now that his majors are all 78+.

Tackling = Major.

My DE's lack of missed tackles is a good argument against it.

They both have 0 this season.

I think once you get tackling to first cap on a DE, confidence is going to be every bit as important. Besides, once you get to that point your major attribute gains are over with. I would rather get gains on physical attributes any day of the week, especially with how often this game changes. I can go from STR DE to SPD DE to AGI DE with a simple swap of equipment.

I hate getting things past the 73 cap, or the 68 cap depending on position. 3 extra SPD/STR/AGI just doesn't seem worth the tradeoff of 10 in another attribute. I'd rather have an extra 10 confidence or jumping than an extra 3STR.

Especially the first attribute, which will hit 80 natural even if you only get it to the 68 cap.

Tackling = Major.

Are you saying you'd add to it before completing your physical attributes, or are you just trying to argue with me?

I'm not disagreeing with that. I'm just saying that tackling gets the same level gains, so mathematically, going tackling first is just as worth it as speed first. Speed first will be the better build by far, but mathematically...same thing.

I'm pretty sure by the time you got all three to 73 you still wouldn't be able to get your best gains on a fourth attribute (tackling).

I'm pretty sure this debate isn't even really important.

I'm not even having a debate tbh

Hell, that last post wasnt even related to the whole tackling thing.
