120 is possible, but with that much speed you don't really *need* Closing Speed, you'll get there p fast anyway, and if you're taking speed that high, you'll need to be very precise with your SP.

If you play any zone, play man on a slot, or have to actually be a safety net deep, what happens when that 100+ speed reciever gets open deep and you try to chase him down? That's why you need more than 80. Geez, my level 35 OLB has 81 speed!

I agree that you need more than 80. But if you are playing deep to support the CB's you'd hope that you vision and other attributes would keep the play in front of you.

For him maybe his team never plays Zone Defense... my last 2 havn't. I could see where lining up in the slot or on a TE built more like a WR could be an issue though.

In any case, not my problem.

never built a fs but i think u shoud take speed to 4th cap as soon as u can. when u reach lvl 40, that plus natural gains should eventually get it to around wut? 78 80 ish? if u have all lvl 40 equip into speed then u would be looking atround 100 to 105 (did this all roughly in my head). i think that should be about the aptimum without sacrificing other attributes too much. just keep adding equip to speed and think u will have a damn good safety.

My SS has only 87 speed, and thats recently yet he has played in the pros, including USA pros and won AAA conferences 3 times... Speed isn't the only thing that matters

Nobody is saying speed is the only thing. What we're saying is that it's the "King," but yes, strength, vision, agility, and jumping help a lot too as well. As for your SS being at 87, I'd look back at the game film and see how many plays "could have been."

too much speed on a safety is overkill....

My FS has 96 speed, 71 agility, 65 vision and he covers anybody WR or TE just fine...
especially when you factor in the the veteran abilities...

being more balanced is crucial, because if you just build a speed FS with 100+ speed, he's still going to lose most battles against a power back and get straight trucked without proper strength and tackling...

your 100+ speed safety would get murdered by my RB with 98 str and 80 speed...

Not really since he shouldn't be getting past the front 7 to begin with.

Eh it's fine. Safties have a lot more to worry about then some power backs. I wouldn't trade higher speed on a F.S. just to not miss a tackle on a power back a few times a game.

Basically you make a completely invalid point sir.

My Safety is at roughly 108 speed. His closing speed is also at 9 thanks to AEQ. It's very seldom that he gets beat deep, but if he does he chases them down pretty much every time.

For a FS, I'd set Retirement goals as:

95 Speed
85 Vision
70 Agility
48 Jumping / Str / Tack
7+ SV, CS
