Actually, it still matters even if you are doing the avg, which is fine. it should still be 1 vote per team. Cause if the entire staff from badlands for example do not like a certain team, they can bury them on their rankings and it will effect the avg ranking. even though this is just for shits and giggles, it should be done as fair as possible.

LOL, so what if every owner from 10 teams do not like a certain team? They can just bury them on their rankings and it would effect the tally ranking.

How many from each team doesn't matter.

if ten owners think that a certain team sucks then guess what...odds are that team sucks.

This vote is open to all the people that actually post in this thread. No one wins anything, its not serious and it is just for fun. the main rule is that you have no points assessed to the team your on or own or gm or what ever.

It is just for fun and to see what the conference thinks of each other team.

Hey guys...working on the final results for week 13. Hopefully will post before week 14 games, time permitting

Let me know your thoughts and keep the criticism coming! Keep in mind that THIS IS JUST FOR FUN.

EDIT: I am at work today until this evening, so I won't be able to add the results of the week 13 Coaches Poll until tonight before the games. One quick note: I realized as I was calculating the votes yesterday that the concern raised by Uncle Buck is correct - all teams must participate in order to have an accurate picture of what the results would be.

The reason for this is because a team that is ranked high, say in the top 5, that did not vote would be rated much higher than they would be had they actually voted. The team would be scoring 10+ votes from opposing coaches, without voting for other teams = THIS SKEWS THE RESULTS I'll post a mathmatical example later.

Thinking about how to remedy this "problem." Any ideas?

This is where a mailing list to multiple people would help a great deal.

We should work out all the kinks out and roll out the poll season 3 day 1.

not much time left in this season and besides, some of you have to start game planning for the post season.

Good luck to all you guys.

But don't sleep on the chiefs next season. We have made major improvements the last few days and have up graded the roster. We will not be taken lightly ever again!!!!

I'll do the math. It's easy. There is NO benefit to teams that haven't voted if you average the actual points they get and not base it on the total number of ballots cast.

You want anything done right, you have to do it yourself. Here are the week 13 rankings based on average vote:

Northwest Nighthawks 15 points
Badlands Abomination 14.25 points
Santa Fe Regulators 13 points
New Orleans Nation 12.5 points
Biloxi Man-Whores 11.33 points
Gilead Gunslingers 11.25 points
Screaming Snails 9.5 points
Bellevue Blitz 9.33 points
Seattle Spartans 8 points
Orange Maners 7 points
Charlestown Chiefs 6 points
Los Angeles Gouchos 4.75 points
San Diego Savages 3.75 points
Oakland BlackReign 2.75 points
Tulsa Scorpions 2.75 points
Oklahoma City Red Rangers 1 points

Oh, I already calculated everything but it's on my home computer. I'm at work now so I can't post results now. You run into the same skewed results whether you show total votes or avg votes.

As the co-defensive coach in charge of LB/DT/NT, it is not necessary I be able to count that high. What number comes after 8 again As to the poll, that is easy; the #1 team is the one we play next and the one we just beat is last The others who cares

Here are the week 13 calculations:

Badlands Abomination 71 (1) 2
Northwest Nighthawks x 60 (4) 1
Gilead Gunslingers 57 5
New Orleans Nation x 50 3
Santa Fe Regulators x 50 4
Biloxi Man-Whores x 47 6
Screaming Snails 47 7
Seattle Spartans 39 9
Bellevue Blitz x 38 8
Orange Maners 36 10
Charlestown Chiefs 30 11
Los Angeles Gouchos 24 12
San Diego Savages 19 13
Tulsa Scorpions 14 14
Oakland BlackReign 13 15
Oklahoma City Red Rangers 5 16

The 'x' indicates the 5 teams that voted. The (#) indicates # of first place votes. The first number listed is the number of votes that team received and the second number is their GLB standing rank.

As you can see, the results are obviously skewed because Badlands did not participate. They received a first place vote once, yet are ranked higher than Northwest, a team with 4 first place votes. Had Badlands participated in the poll, the other teams would have received more votes and they would receive zero, since they cannot vote for themselves. The same can be said for the other 10 teams that did not participate - thus skewing the results even more. Even the averages are skewed. Again - this is due to the # of teams voting/# of tallied votes.

Not sure how this is going to look when I actually press 'post' but it looks okay right now as I'm typing it.

Questions?

You guys are clueless. 3 teams voted for the Nighthawks, the AVERAGE is:

15 + 15 + 15 = 45
45 / 3 = 15 (the AVERAGE is of the 3 teams that voted for them, NOT overall ballots. You CAN'T average something that isn't there)

The Nighthawks get a 15 overall.

Only 3 teams votes for the Regulators, so:

12 + 14 + 13 = 39
39 / 3 (total votes for them) = 13

The Man-Whores and the Blitz would also be divided by 3. The rest of the league would be divided by 4 because they received 4 votes.

This isn't rocket science, guys.

thunder's formula actually works pretty well in considering those that didn't vote.

Thank you.

My ranking for last week is up the page a bit. It looks accurate, although there was a shakeup at the top this week for sure.
