Here's my biggest question then......

Everything said and done what year is it? it is 2009 AD <------ why would our own dating system be determined from Jesus' death if he wasn't whom he is?

Another question???? besides the whole dating system question what about Easter?Christmas? just to name the biggest 2, 1 celebrates Jesus' Birth and the other his Resurrection from the dead, which brings me too.....

Man if we are wrong about this guy we have been wrong for centuries and where would/do we go from here??????

Just adding another question here....

If someone where to ask this question how could we really answer it....

Why is everything we do date wise and holiday wise based off of this one man and this one book that everyone knows about? Believing is different that knowing, how do we discount everything?

woah that's pretty Christian-centric, don't you think? I bet followers of Muhammad think he's the man. Buddhists about Buddha too. A lot of self-referential reasoning you're swimming in there

If Christianity was "the one", why dont they have a song like this yet: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DbxN_TA28vM

When you say "our", do you mean "we americans" or "we people". Who do you mean by "we"?

The Chinese calendar originated around 2600 BC. It is the year 5760-someting according to the Hebrew calendar.

Shit.. In India, they don't even keep track of years.. as there has been so many and they never saw fit to keep track. They go by lunar if I am not mistaken.

You are being too exclusive. If you mean "we" as in Americans, it's because we took most of the British customs

If you mean "we" as in Christians, well then the answer is the same as the question

perfect example in your quote: (The Chinese calendar originated around 2600 BC. It is the year 5760-someting according to the Hebrew calendar.) Why is it BC???

Does anyone think that the Bible was written by a man with one hell of an imagination? Like Lord of the rings and STAR wars.

Also was religion and Gods really invented to keep people in line. So people would have some sort of a moral compass? I also think people believe in God or some sort of heaven because its scary to think when you die thats it. We are told there are no such things as monsters, magic, or super hero's. Yet we are supposed to believe when we die we go to this magical place. I don't know. I'm rambling so if this doesn't make since sorry. Just random thoughts.

For the same reason that anyone that believes that 2 + 2 = 4. If you believe in the "system" you inherently believe in the components that operate within that system. You already believe in 4,, and you already believe in 2. Therefore it is no surprise that 2 + 2 = 4

Do you honestly think the Chinese (or Jews) for that matter, were sitting around 5000+ years ago after starting to record the harvests and moons by year....thinking... man, we are living in 2600 BC ? Do you honestly think that now, when they go to temple,, that they are celebrating the year 2009??

If you are asking why is the modern western calendar is so pervasive, it is because Christianity was (and is) a rather compelling argument and had (and has) amazing influence

But your arguments are self-referential.. I would recommend Godel, Escher, Bach
