Exactly, one team that was +1 already beat a +1 team by 114 points and moved down 10 spots, while a team that was -1 beat a team that at the time was +0 by 3 and jumped up to +2 and all the way up to 4th in rankings. I'm sure it levels out some once it gets flooded with data, because bad teams aren't going to consistantly win or score alot of points so the better teams will have tons more "data" than the lower teams. Pretty much any formula you use would get you results in that way, but if it's accurate you don't have to wait untill it's flooded with data for it to be semi-relevant. I'll say it again though, any formula worth it's salt doesn't have to wait untill it's flooded with so much data it comes out more reasonable when calculated, a good formula works from day 1. Sure there will be teams at first that are ranked higher than they will be at the end of the season, but that's true with any poll or "power ranking", but a decent formula wouldn't spit out the oddball results this one does, you would be able to look at it and it'd make sense.

It makes since since I can look at the raw data. That much I can say. But I wont put much stock in the rankings tell after game 2 of the regular season.

the Chicago Lazer Squirrels have not had a complete Defensive nor Offensive AI input the entire pre-season.

We input a very BASIC AI against the team who beat us 20 something to 9, without trying to scout, nor set any mis-matches. I put the AI for that game together in about 10 minutes by just slapping plays into my shells...

I didn't want them to see our real intentions against them, as we play that team in game 1, and they will be a tough test.

so as for the power rankings, do they by any chance include a "level of effort" factor? ;-)

with all that said, it was cool to read.

The first 2 preseason games will fall off after week 6. Im also going to add a Win-loss stat to the rankings. It will be implemented with regular season games.

No reason to whine, your doing a service to the league. Any power rankings is better than none. And like all power rankings they will improve with a larger sample size.

regardless of the system or format used for rankings, everyone who is posting, your efforts are appreciated. If nothing else your posts keep the forums active and the season more enjoyable. Thanks!!

No one was complaining about your rankings, though it obviously is flawed so some people like myself tried to give criticism and advice on how possibly to improve it but it was only taken as "complaining" and ignored. No one was insulting you for having a flawed system, there's no way to spit out a perfected formula on the first try, these types of things take a bit of trial and error. Waiting untill it's flooded with data will spit out better results in the end, but you could have created a formula that'd give more competent results from the first game on based on the data it was given. It would have been nice had you been more open to adjustments, but it's your formula do with it what you will. It's all in fun anyways.

Lets lock this thread till spreadsheets become meaningful. Use my ranking until comp can beat it!
