To call it "cheating" is ridiculous though.

It gets the point across, and many people do consider it cheating. At the least it is poor gamesmanship, which is also something to be complained about, so it really makes no difference.

In a sense though it's like accusing somebody of wallhacking (which actually is cheating) in first person shooters Hukton. If the other guy isn't really cheating, you look like an idiot, and if he is cheating he doesn't care that you know it.

If the other team considers what they do cheating, they don't give a fuck. If they don't consider what they do cheating, they just laugh at you and get on with their day.

and if the ability to run through 7 people at the LOS for a 3 yard gain isn't addressed (and it isn't explicitly addressed by any of those things), none of those will make a huge difference.

did you miss this? those things brought the average down to less than 2 yards

And say what you want about our offense this season Huxton because I'm sure you've done absolutely no research to back it up.

Somehow we managed to go 15-1 while at the same time Earl had about 70 fewer carries and about 1,400 fewer yards in Season 8 than he did in S7.

Our #1 WR had one of the better seasons of his career, our #2 WR had the most TD receptions since his 2nd season, our #3 WR tied his career best for TDs, and our speed HB had 700yds receiving. Hell, our TE had a career season for receiving yards and TDs as well.

So don't go telling me that we "cheated" and rode Earl to a 15-1 Conference Championship

I mean really, I guess the Colts should have toned down the Peyton Manning to Marvin Harrison combo. . . . . . it was way too efective. They should have been required to line up in the I formation about 20% of the time in order to bring equity to the game.

When one team can do it its not an exploit. When most teams can it is. Even an average rushing offense (ours, at least in this league) could pull off the season 8 offense.

Well Earl isn't a product of an exploit. Just because a lot of HBs can get 5ypc doesn't mean Earl shouldn't be utilized how he was meant to be.

Most good FPS servers kick and ban people who use cheats like that, and Punkbuster (or something like it) eliminates most before they ever get on. Like I'm saying, my opinion on such things is actually the majority opinion for most multiplayer games, and I'm thinking there is a silent majority here that I wish would speak up.

One of the best RBs in the game, in my opinion. Your rushing attack is damned good for many reasons, and normally is exceptional...this past season everyone else was able to do the same thing even if their rushing attack was far from exceptional and they were going against a good run defense.

Ban people and teams for a mistake by the creator of the game. Perfectly logical.

I'm not talking about your offense other than that it would have done quite well this season if you had run the exploit offense...if you didn't, then a very earnest 'good for you' is in order.

The odd thing is that the "exploit offense" in AAA#1 was the Strong I Slam over and over. There wasn't a ton of I Formation running that I saw.

I'm not saying ban anyone for last season's offenses. I'm talking about moving forward...if this game were to ever get out of beta it would need rules against cheating, and enforcement, because otherwise, noone new would join. Or at least they wouldn't stay around long.

Unfortunately some people can't seem to do that.

To be honest, I'm always skeptical about tester threads - and you would do well not to take them as gospel either. A lot of their methodology is unscientific to say the least, the team builds they use are simply not realistic for the most part and leave many variables unaccounted for. I will say that I am *optimistic* that season 9 will be better in all areas, and I truly don't expect to see any 100% si slam offenses next season. However, I would be a pretty terrible owner if I blindly took a tester's word for anything without waiting to draw my own conclusion.

Fair enough. And I think that poll awhile back basically gave Bort our permission to fix any exploits at any time he pleases.

It just pisses me off that USA Pro was probably one of the worst leagues for exploiting this, when it should be the most competitive and therefore the most fun. Instead it became just another GLB league but with higher leveled players and what were presumably some of the best OCs in the game strong I slamming it to get that W.
