The Thunder loves the underdog roll come playoff time.

We just got lucky. I think we went 4/4 on 4th down conversions plus Paris had a chance to tie it late with a FG but went for it on 4th and got sacked. Game over.

exploit or not, this is definitely not the way to handle a loss.

You're right, we're supposed to bow down before exploiters, and acknowledge your obvioussly superior gameplan and ignore the fact that you are exploiting pieces of crap.

I GOT IT ALL WRONG.

umm i didnt say that?

what are we supposed to do, find a gameplan that doesnt work as well, and use that?

remember when a certain team was reprimanded for trying to recruit another WEPL team's players, and we all agreed teams should do whatever it takes to win, as long as its within the rules of the game? whatever happened to the "win at all costs" thing that we agreed on several seasons ago?

What's realistic about a gameplan that doesn't work, and everyone knows it doesn't work?

Definition of insanity imo.

Yeah pretty much. Trying to make sure all the guys paying flex having fun is rather silly, really.

Look, I'd like the sim to be a bit brighter, too. But the fact's are this:
1) GLB is not football. The dots never learn during a game. If a play works well twice in a game, it's likely to work well 50 times.

2) Everybody and their dog knows the big play this season - Strong-I Slam. You should be happy they ran something different.

Why act all hurt that gamers are doing everything in their power to win?

You can call it what you want, but we didn't exploit anything. We played to our strengths -- like any team should.

We have been built to be a power rushing team even back in the days when elusive backs ruled. We roll 11 deep on the OL to keep our guys fresh and have a philosophy of wearing down opponents. We've done it since Season 1. But we have other weapons we use besides Mal (and we used them today) but when it comes down to it in the playoffs you have to go with what your team does best. And we did.

That said, do I think the sim has issues? Absolutely. Do I think the passing game is beyond ridiculous? Absolutely. Do I think that Berlin is a good team? Absolutely. But to make it sound like we're any less deserving, or cheated you in some way, because we played to our strengths is just not looking at the whole picture.

fact of the matter is, we are great when we run the ball with mal. always have been. our passing has been dismal this season. seems like when we throw the ball, we are setting ourselves up for disappointment. also the weakside runs are pretty crappy too.

in light of the information provided above, what sort of gameplan would you go with, offensively?

Stop kidding yourself. A running back should not be as strong and fast on the 45th carry as he is on the first. You and I both know it is total bullshit. Breaking a pile of tackles early when you're at full strength? Sure, not a problem. Massive broken tackles late in the game shouldn't be happening.

And yeah, you sure used the hell out of those other weapons! Throwing 7 passes sure is "using other weapons".

Enjoy your hollow trophy. You're definitely "earning" it.

And for those that think I'm just upset because I don't have a powerback, I have one on a team in CPL, with another powerback as the #2. We could have run 70 ties a game and probably won. Instead, we tried to make sure the entire team got to have some fun with the players they are paying real money for.

Seriously, though. How does going 'HURF POWERBACK UP THE MIDDLE DURFFFFFF" show any sort of skill whatsoever? Admit you got your exploit win and move on, win your hollow trophy. I'm just not going to get on my knees and worship you for a cheapass win.

I used to like FDC too, and respect him. This kind of exploity bullshit, though, is dumb.

Hope all these exploiting teams enjoy their illl-gotten gain in the way of their season 8 trophy.

Oh wait, I was wrong. They didn't exploit the strong I slam. They "just" exploited the BS overpowered Power HB. Teams try to focus on stopping the exploit run and they're open to pretty much everything else. Don't focus on stopping the exploit run and just get run over by that instead.

Basically, the only way to win in S8 is to get a powerback and give them 45-50 carries a game. So dumb.

Soo...Mal's power rushing game also held you guys to 10 total points even though you had the ball 33 minutes?

Damn...I didn't even know Mal was that good.

haha.. I have always thought that Berlin was some nice guys.. But they sure are some very bad losers..

I disagree.

1.) There's an exploit available to everyone with an acceptably well built powerback,
2.) the playbook as it stands allows teams to hide their play calling for the most part by running a lot of plays through the same formation which leads us to
3.) running Strong I with a large helping of HB Slam & OT rush is, in the current sim that everybody shares, %s better than running any other gameplan.

Anyone who is in this game to see their WR have the ball thrown to incomplete again and again off Shotgun is in the right place. They probably won't win anything though.

Anyone who wants to win, will play the current 'best' exploits (HB Slam & Strong I) more often than other plays. Doing otherwise is currently unviable.

Should there be "exploits" or "strictly better plays"? No.

Is it fun and interesting? No, unless your idea of fun is racking your brains for the very rare outs that may possibly exist.

Do I have to live with it? Yes, it's that or stop playing.

Do you have to live with it? Ditto.

Is the insane play QB calling complete BS? Yes, no doubt about that.

I know this sounds very catty on my part but that's the current reality. I know most of your comments are born out of frustration that S.8 is a wash. It is. But it's also a wash with a silver and gold trophy at the end. I have no problem picking up a trophy knowing you have the same access/opportunity to exploit as I did, using them is your choice. The only thing that's sure is that failing to use an exploit that everyone has access to, while it may feel noble, puts your rapidly ageing team one step behind in games where you don't need further handicaps.

My 2c.

im sure theyre nice guys, but the loss is still fresh. give mr moose some time to relax and have a nice day, by tomorrow morning he'll realize its not actually our fault. he'll realize the only guy to blame for it is Bort.

well of course that is the most effective gameplan(as it is for every team that has a powerback this season) and i'm well aware that ever since you acquired mal it has been mostly pounding it with him. i dont mind a good power running game at all. using the same play over and over again because it has been proven to be mostly unstoppable is what grates my nerves.
