I will restate what TRUELY meant ... then we can drop this and let the proving happen during the season ..

I do think that putting us at 15 was a bit low .. .. (but who am i to decide) I was trying to say that had we not lost in OT we could very well (imo we would have) won the league and it wouldnt have been a team that backed in ...

I also believe that we have been given space to crawl up ...

That being said ... can we move on ... ?

So Jrry, any team that didn't win their conference and moved up, backed into that higher league? Based on what? How promotions/relegations USED TO work?

If there are 5 spots open in the west, and the 5 best teams move up, its retarded to call that backing in, since we in fact got in under how promotions work NOW. The only way to back into a league imo would be to be swapped into it.

My definition of backing in- To be granted a promotion based on something other than merit. (ie "Bob backed in to the vice president job because his father owns the company"). It'd be retarded to say that "Bob backed into the vice pesident job because the former VP quit/was fired" DUCY?

Have fun with your own definition, but don't go preaching it as fact my friend. Your a cool guy jrry, but arguing definitions of phrases not in the dictionary as fact isn't gonna cut it.

This all is different than the point at any rate, which was the phrasing of CV's OP implied we don't belong here (not to mention we were the only team 'flagged' for backing in).

I like the predictions and keep them coming with whatever phrasing you want CV, but you fellas need to stop jumping on my boy crush like he just killed your savior...

The fact that I even had to make these posts saddens me tbh...

Everyone who's here deserves to be here. If you won an AAA trophy, then yeah, you deserve to be here. If you were in AAA and had a good enough record to replace a gutjob team in Pro, then yeah, you deserve to be here too. And if you're that one bastard team from single-A who swapped with a gutting Pro team a few seasons ago and you've hung in there and gone twelve rounds with the best GLB has to offer, then hell, even you deserve to be here.

Ideally this would be the case. But as we have seen in past seasons, there will be teams that gut mid-season. It is hard to keep a team motivated when your only battle cry is "Let's not get relegated!"

Even if you "win" you are still facing the same prospect next season. A fight to remain in Pros and no hope whatsoever of making the playoffs.

Okay Wiseman...you know me and all...but lets face it...you backed in. It may not fit your definition, but you got promoted not because you won the title game, but because spots had to be filled here so the crap teams could move down. Who cares what he called it? We know what happened no matter what label you put on it. I know the Wolfpack and Navigators backed in too. That doesn't mean he's disrespecting your team by saying that. It's nothing to be ashamed of. USA AAA2 was a very tough league and it was by no means easy to promote the standard way. Just prove you belong here. Be damn proud you backed in. Sure it would have been better to earn it the old way, but hey...you're in the big show now, and that's all that matters...not what you did in the past. Take it as an opportunity to prove yourself to USA Pro. CV is fair with his rankings, so he will move you up if you deserve to be moved up. Remember these are preseason rankings based on last season, off-season acquisitions, and probably some looking at pre-season games. Look at his rankings at the beginning of Season 7:

Parma didn't perform even closely to what they were expected to do here. Lincoln was rated 13 (we also backed in), The Orangebloods (champs of AAA2 as you know) eventually gutted, MM stepped it up, etc.

I can definitely see where you're coming from because when I read that line, I had to do a bit of a double-take. But I'm 100% positive that Crush was rushing his post and meant to say can't instead of can.
