See my previous post. Things balance themselves out in ways that don't need nerfs/etc.

How is this a nerf?

It'd be like adding a LOLB 1/LOLB 2 slot on the DC. An option for those who choose to use it, like the slots on offense are currently.

Gotcha.

If you are just talking about addind slots I would agree. More choices the better. But I don't agree you should be able to choose the slots based on the individual offensive players.

The tight end doesn't get the ball every play- so on the one's he not running a route he needs to be able to block at least a little bit. Those who build their TE's as PURE receiving with no Strength or blocking whatsoever are doing a disservice to their team. Not saying bring the two to the second cap, but you can't ignore it.

Yeah, that'd be silly. I'd settle for LB 1/2 slots for each position (ROLB, MLB, LOLB, etc.)

If offenses have an option, the defense should have an equal counter imo.

Well my team has a real fast TE that can catch and Block pretty good so we only use one.And when i say fast he is as fast as a lot of WR or faster then most and is a true TE.

I guess I got confused. I thought people wanted to be able to change players based on if a blocking TE or catching TE was in the game.

Remove the TE1/TE2 capability, or let the defense change their tactics based on which TE is in the game (as they would in real life).

YES

And how would tactics identify the differences in the TEs? And what if the offense called a passing play using their blocking TE?

Just adds to the strategy of it.

Also, TEs do block on pass plays once in awhile, ya know?

And for the tactics identifying the TEs, i dont know how that would be done because i don't know anything about coding, but i'm sure it wouldn't be too difficult to give each TE an ID tag of some kind that could be used to identify which is which.

The problem with the system as is, is that the Defense cannot react to the Offense's substitutions as it would if this were a live action sim. Because everything relies on presets, the Offense has a huge advantage in personnel matchups. In real football (and i know this is not real football, but bear with me) the Defense can sub to counter the offense's players on the field. Obviously in GLB this is not the case.

But let's say the Defense could change tactics or sub based on which of the two TEs was in the game. Could the offense call a passing play with their Blocking TE in? Sure. Maybe this would catch the defense napping or something, thus adding an additional element of strategy for the offensive team.

Mainly though, this is about allowing balanced TEs to actually have a purpose in this game, and removing the TE1/TE2 capability would be the easiest way to do it, even if it's not necessarily the best.

for now the answer is artificial parity via toning down (greatly) the importance of individual builds and to a lesser degree strategy.

This should not have been moved to the TE club forum, since it's really a discussion of game mechanics. Which mod did this?

You say that in the real football the defense can sub to counter. In real football the offense can call an audible that can not be countered.

A bad one that can't differentiate between position talk and game machanics talk.

If the offensive formation changes, the defense can re-align as well.

In any case, the problems here our two fold:

1 - Most teams have a TE that only runs routes and a TE that only blocks. This means that realistic TE builds are useless and teams might as well be using WRs and OTs.

2 - Defenses can't take advantage of these unbalanced builds. If the the TE built like a WR is in, they should favor defending the pass. Yes, the offense can then try to surprise them and run, but if the TE isn't balanced they will be doing so with a weak blocker. The same holds true for TEs built like OTs - the defense should favor the run when they are in, and the offense can try to pass occasionally to throw them off - but in that case they are doing so with a weak receiving TE.

Allowing the D to adjust to TE matchups would add an extra element of strategy and encourage at least semi-realistic TE builds. Plus all the receiving TEs like mine wouldn't have wasted points in strength and blocking.

I PMed support to get this moved back, but it's probably hopeless.

Moving this back to GLB because it's talking about a balance issue, and not one that's really unique to TEs.
