I could see slippery being useful for a returner, but quick feet or the quick/track star VAs seem much more valuable for elusive backs. Getting a 30% bonus to juke seems a lot more useful than a higher chance to break tackles on elusive (esp when you will have to run on heavy elusive and thereby be relying on juke/HF/spin to break tackles).

I think Bruiser is quite possible the best Veteran Ability PERIOD.
When maxed out at Level 15 that is 45% or almost a 50/50 shot of breaking any given tackle, on top of your normal tackle breaking ability from Strength/Carrying + Lower Shoulder/Power Thru.
The way I interpreted it, it's 45% increase to the chance to break a tackle, not a 45% chance to break a tackle. For example, if there is a 20% chance to break a tackle against a particular defender based on natural attributes, you'll now have a 29% chance to break that tackle.
All things being equal, you should have 45% more broken tackles - actually more since a broken tackle gives you a chance to brake another tackle. Still pretty darn good.
The bonus is additive not multiplicative.

They are multiplicative. If you have a 50% chance to do something, and an ability gives you a +10% bonus, you now have a 55% chance to do that thing.

+45% is (whatever current chance to break tackles is) x 1.45

Well, I took 6 points of goal line back... you guys are trashing it, but I'd rather have a guaranteed 6% boost to strength, carrying, and agility every time I'm within the 5 yard line than a 35% chance to maybe get 5% to agility, str, speed while I'm in the red zone. We'll see how it works out for me.

Even if that were true (which it isn't), why stop at lvl 10, take it to 15 and you get +45% chance to break tackles.

do abilities other than the attribute boosters go to 15? Because I keep seeing people say "take it to 15!" when every one I've tried so far caps at 10.
