The fact that it only works while trailing doesn't take anything away from it - what IF it worked so well that you just see-sawed back every time the opponents took the lead? Can you imagine how potent this could be against some of the toughest teams in the game? You don't need it to work all the time for it to be an insane ability - if you can pull down impossible catches vs Santiago Benitos because of this ability (when they will be leading most of the game), and keep pace with them, then you're within the realm of luck/turnovers allowing you to win the game.

Point well taken. Even then, it's very much situational driven. However, if you're a team that's near the top...I suppose this has the potential to give you the extra nudge you need.

Does anyone know if "Sure Hands" and the 2nd chance to catch only applied if you're going to get a drop? Or does this apply to all balls thrown your way that are out of reach. IE, will this VA only let you erase a drop, or does it give you a second chance for your rolls to activate 1-hand catch, diving catch, etc??

I read a post from Bort that said only plays that would be counted as a drop, I'm too tired/lazy/rushed to go find you a quote but you'll have to take my word on it.

So my receiver had 4 drops last year, and this VA is completely fucking worthless.

Yeah if you only had 4 drops last season there are better things to spend your VP on

Well I have 8 Track Star and 8 Quick. It's sort of like regular attributes vs. special attributes at early levels imo...go for the basics first.

I had 5 in both Quick and Track Star with my other 6 in Go To Guy for my game today, and I didn't get many results. My WR had 7 receptions, but 3 other WRs were targeted as much or more than my WR. It was worth a try with Bort's reset option

No worries, Boss. I dropped all my vet points into track star and quick to be safe.

Since I happen to be a smug enough bastard to quote a post I made earlier in another forum...

The effectiveness of sure hands depends hugely on the order in which WR's catch rolls happen when compared to DB catch/swat rolls.

If its always WR catch roll 1, WR catch roll 2, then DB rolls, it'll be much more effective than if its WR catch roll 1, db rolls, wr catch roll 2, though I'm sure a number of things like player orientation, the jumping of both players, and the catching of both players, not to mention ball placement play a large roll in the "order.

All I'm saying is we really don't "know" shit. Its possible that a possession WR's high catching/jumping will allow him to do his 2 rolls twice before the DB rolls, while the speedster won't, which'd make this a more effective VA for possession WRs...

^ Good points.

If I had to guess though:
Sure Hands -Low catching WRs where Soft catching wouldn't give a decent increase to catching
Soft Hands- High catching WRs get a larger bonus, wouldn't give a decent increase to catching to low catching WRs and high catching WRs only drop a ball a game at most so Sure hands would be worthless as it doesn't give the bonuses to possession SAs that catching does.

Soft Hands is much more useful. A direct add to catching gives you:
-less drops
-less PD's on you
-high completion percentage to you
-more QB throws your way, since catching influences who the QB throws to

I disagree, it is situational as I point out above. If you are at 50 catching, the prerequisite and spend 15 points in soft hands, you only get 7 catching in return, I don't think that will make or break a build especially a speed guy who is going to have the over 25 yard penalty reduce his catching accuracy. A double roll will be much more effective than 7 catching for someone with low catching.

My biggest concern is that by not using Sure Hands my WR is now at a disadvantage vs a CB who has Long Reach... I mean, I'm going to be faster than him by a good amount with my 11 Track Star and 75 base speed, but is that going to keep me far enough away to beat his second chance at a PD?

Then again if sure hands only activates on a drop, I might as well not bother since he'll have a second chance at the PD regardless.

I think in most cases if you have good separation from the CB...the CB pass defend roll is going to be a longshot and who cares if the CB gets two rolls that are both longshots.

If you maxed it out, you would go from 80% to 92%. I think that is a good increase.
