If you're spending a lot of time in zone coverage (and I know I am), Zone Specialist looks really good. The way Bort explained it, it looks like you're getting a bonus at least to initial play recognition on every play, and the bonuses to speed, agility and vision on every pass play.

Every FF and Int tends to be a game-changing play, so I'd say that's pretty good, mate.

Am I reading it wrong or is Zone Specialist the combination of Quick, Track star, and Football Genius into 1 ability as long as my team plays zone? If your team plays zone, is their any reason not to put the points into Zone Specialist and put them in the individual Veteran abilities instead?

It only applies to pass coverage while in zone.

still get vision bonus while diagnosing a run play though

So does zone specialist kick in if your underneath coverage is man-to-man, yet you are in cover 2 formation?

From what I understand, Zone Specialist stops working once the pass is completed and the receiver starts running.

and when they run the ball you need speed and vision

I maxed genius and put 5 in track, I don't see a real need for 15% speed boost right now mines already really high

Ok, a new top 5 list for FS, feel free to attack it, I want a fair consensus...

1. Track Star - Speed is normally our highest base stat, this gives a 15% boost to it. Say you have 80 BASE speed, that is a 12 point bump, which is roughly 36 attribute points and you only spent 15 veteran points. Also, it makes all additional speed worth 1.15 points rather than just 1.

2. Sure Tackler - You are normally the last line of defense at FS. If you miss, the guy is normally gone. This gives a 2nd chance. Although I normally don't miss many tackles, the few times I have caused big plays, so this is a big bonus.

3a and 3b. Quick/Football Genius - Normally your next two stats and very important. For a breakdown, see Track Star.

5. Long Reach - A 2nd chance at all pass deflections. Very nice, but not as good as Sure Tackler.

* Variable - Clutch - This can be any where from first to worst depending on the boost. There are no details about this skill other than that it is a boost. If it is a chance at say a 2% boost to all attributes, it is a definite pass. If it is 5% or more, I'll definitely consider it. Either way, until we get word, no one knows.

* Variable - Sure Hands - If this applies to interceptions, this is could be big. A 2nd chance at all interceptions would be a very nice bonus.

surprised you dont have Zone specialist for FS ..... not disagreeing, just like to know your thinking .....I was very tempted by it

No, it only applies if your particular player is in zone coverage, and for only as long as he is in zone coverage

If you think about it, teams run say 50% of the time, making zone specialist work for only about half of a second for the play. The other 50%, they pass. If at any point you break zone or are playing man, the bonuses end.

If the bonuses stayed for the entire play, no questions asked, the bonus would be great and well worth it. But essentially a 15% bonus to base vision (speed and agility boosts will actually take you further from the play for that initial time backing into your zone) ONLY when in zone and for the most part, only for about half a second is passable or at least can be put off until AFTER more important boosts.

Personally, I put my first 20 points as 10 in Track Star and 10 in Sure Tackler.

maybe true, but dont forget that these things are relative. if your speed has stayed the same and all those pesky WRs just went
+15 Track Star, then you just got a lot slower in reality ....

thats why Im leaning to track star ... still not decided tho ....

but we play safety already have a 15+ yard cushion while playing cover 2 which is the only time I'm covering a fade

very true ...altho I like speed as it means I can catch up to WRs who have escaped coverage and are up at full speed. Maybe there is a clue in the FS SA tree. First step/Change direction are both agility boosters .... maybe thats becos Bort thought FSs needed help in that area in order to make plays .....
