Well, to be technical, it was a grammatical error, not a typing error.

Yea, if you think we're bad here, you should see our team forum.

Well, English is not my mothertongue, so I believe I'm excused..

I'm going to remember that next time I get arrested...

Ummm.....that depends on what you mean by "that much".

He averaged 1.2 more YPC than Suggs (with 126 more carries)

He had over 1,000 more yards than Suggs

He had a lower fumble per carry average than Suggs.

From where I'm sitting, it looks like he was WAY better than Suggs last season.

Mal was pretty much THE running back on that team. Suggs and Cooper split time almost down the middle. If you take away 126 carries x 6.5 ypc that leaves Mal with 1889 yards vs 1522 for Suggs. If you divide that by 16 games it averages out to be 22.9 yards per game more than Suggs

The biggest stat difference is # of touchdowns, but once again, single back versus 2 back system
The difference in amount of fumbles is 2, not that big of a deal. he actually had 2 more fumbles than Suggs, but Suggs lost 2 more than Mal. Which in another poster's opinion is luck of the draw.

So no, Mal's stats aren't that much better than Suggs. His number of carries really inflates his stat line when looking at the two RB's side by side

i think youre stretching it a little bit.

stockholm had to get rid of runningbacks at the end of last season in order to get Mal more touches. it definitely was anything BUT a single back system. they used a lot of runningbacks, but Mal just stood out among them to the point where they are proactively trying to go to a thinner depth chart.

on top of that, 22.9 more yards per game on equal carries isnt a gimme. thats actually quite a margin.

and having more carries isnt a penalty against him. it WOULD be if his average was lower, but instead it was higher. it means he doesnt tire as fast as his opponents. i consider that to be a GOOD thing for a runningback.

not saying suggs is bad. not at all. i just dont get why people are calling Mal "overrated". he was the best player on the #1 seeded team last season. that HAS to account for something.

I´m tired of this Mal/Suggs etc talk over and over again.

Maybe we decide to change our 3 back rotation and let run Jason Hayden 400 times this season and I would bet that he will rack up 3000 Yards.

Sorry, no. The biggest stat difference is the "1.2 more YPC than Suggs (with 126 more carries)". When it comes to YPC, 1.2 is a substantial difference.

That's why I counted fumbles per carry. Total fumbles and fumbles lost can be misleading.....fumbles per carry is not.

As jprietman pointed out, his number of carries is what makes things like the higher YPC average and lower fumble per carry that much more impressive.

To set the record straight, Mal carried the ball 48% of the time last season (between 3 HBs).
