Updated after game 11:
* means mathematically in the playoffs already
(I'm not going to sit down and actually compare schedules to see who is really already in, but if the #7 and #8 teams were to win out, they would be 10-6, so as of right now 10 wins does it.)
1) * Bayou Bandits (10-1): If the Bandits can get the W over Reno, they should be able to cruise into the playoffs as the #1 seed. For the first time since their inception they drew an easy out of conference opponent, and that should give them a leg up on other contenders who might be looking to shoot to #1.
2) Rochester Dragons (9-2): I know this will be a surprise to some of you, but I like Rochester at #2. These guys have put together an IMPRESSIVE winning streak that includes a victory over the #1 Bandits. They play the #3 Predators this week. Earn your spot guys!
3) * Maryland Predators (10-1: I think this organization is on the down slope. I also think they drop one this week to Rochester, and I'm damn near certain Huntsville can put them down.
4) Reno Knights (9-2): Two close losses to top tier teams put these guys at #4. They don't have the most talent in the conference, but they're well coached, and they play when it matters. I think they lose to the Bandits in game 12, but after that it's a clear road to the playoffs and a home game.
5) Orlando Soul (8-3): Three losses to top competition put these guys at #5. I don't think they can sneak into the home game picture, but the rest of the road looks pretty smooth.
6) Huntsville Rockets (8-3): Lost to the Soul and the Knights by a combined 2 points. I think these guys win the rest of their inner conference games, but they unfortunately drew the toughest team in the league for their outer conference game.
7) Cleveland Dawg Pound (7-4): I put these guys at #7 over the BeachDogZ because their losses have been closer. They have a tough remaining schedule, and they're going to have to bring their lunch to stay in the playoff picture.
8) Florida BeachDogZ (7-4): Got blown out by a few teams earlier in the season, and that puts these guys at #8. Their remaining schedule is BRUTAL, and it is conceivable that if Hartford can put together an upset over Maryland, the BeachDogZ could be watching the playoffs from their couches.
Not out of it yet:
Hartford Hustlers (5-6): If these guys can win out the rest of the season, including an upset over Maryland, and if the BeachDogZ drop their last 4, and I think they will, then Hartford could sneak into the playoffs to get crushed by Bayou in the first round. However, there are a lot of "if"s in the sentence, two to be exact, and I'm not sure if it's feasible. By the way, I'm not trying to slag these guys by saying Bayou would crush them, but come on... Besides, who doesn't like a little trash talking rivalry?
