Having beaten 2 of those 3 teams, I think it merits calling it a Top 4 but whatever. I do respect your opinions and appreciate your analysis. And I do realize Vilnius had not boosted when we played them, I grant you that. But still....Barger Hill and Drubnovik were the only teams that really took us to the shed in Alpha and they both gutted. We also came the closest to beating Barger Hill during the regular season in the first meeting.

As far as our boosting situation...some of our guys are waiting until pay day. Nothing wrong with that. I'm not concerned, I know our guys.

Overall I'm happy to be the captain of the ship now and we are working very hard to take that next step in Season 5.

Yes it was preseason, but this game didn't help your standing: http://goallineblitz.com/game/game.pl?game_id=186888

We also beat Dubai last year if you want to include preseason. They are the #8 team on Randy's list. Besides I'm talking more about our status in Alpha so I'm not sure how losing a preseason game to a Zeta team really comes into play. I'm not going to waste time arguing that we are better than some of the good Zeta teams because I realize it is a different animal than Alpha and we got rocked pretty hard by Prague in a postseason scrimmage too. I respect Zeta.

NFL still has a lot to prove, I know that. All I can say is we are working hard to get there and we have made some degree of progress each season. Season 3 was our first playoff berth and Season 4 was our first playoff win.

True...

I hate using preseason/early season games as validations of anything. With boosting, tactic changes and everything...a team isn't really at it's best form until week 10 or so. That's not excusing preseason losses for us in the least, we got pounded. It's just more of a general belief the early games are useless to judge success. Detroit squeaked by GCP and admittedly probably should have lost. Took a 50 yard TD to force OT...

ANYWAY

Early season losses/results are useless in the long run, but that's all we have to speculate with...so it's fine to keep some discussion going.

You're very close, but not quite there yet. I've been keeping an eye on Alpha since we got close to promoting here. You guys are just one step behind GCP/Detroit tied with the Maulers as of now for the 3/4 spots. Detroit/GCP alternate the same teams all year so you have the sure chance to jump up a playoff spot or two...

10/18/2008 at Detroit Cheetahs(48) (0) Matchup
10/20/2008 The Geriatric Couch Potatoes(48) (0) Matchup

Rankings as of now are purely a guessing game, informed guesses but guesses nonetheless. Disagree with one, wait til it can be settled on the field I look forward to games with the Maulers/NFL later this season as yet another test pre-playoffs to see where we stand.

Thanks. I look forward to our game too. Hopefully we are ready to take another step upward this season. A lot of our guys got frustrated last season because it seemed like we were really close at times....we lost to Barger Hill on a last second FG and that one really hurt. We had some setbacks here and there...Sarajevo got us pretty good too. But we continue to bounce back and look forward.

Last Season: Mostly holdovers from Chaos Theory, were decently competitive, though clearly Tier 3 in Alpha, was sold prior to Season 4, not gutted, but numerous players quit
Notes: Jubs is also not a newbie with several L30+ players, they actually have some higher level talent on this team, but also a LOT of inactives, many with very bad inactive dates. Their lack of depth and lack of defensive levels will make them better than a computer team, but considering what NFL did to them, I cant see them being terribly competitive, their studs on offense cant get the ball if they dont get some OL and DB help. They also have a completed stadium and good resources, and Jubs also hasnt gone "all in" and brought his own players in to give the team an instant talent infusion .. so it comes down to if he can recruit players, which is hard to do during the season and insane to do in the offseason

Yeah... GM of the Goons here, and let me tell you, I wouldn't have gotten half the roster I did this off-season without a fat bankroll. Thank god Chaos left this team in fairly decent shape money wise. Now it's just a matter of filling in the holes and putting the best team on the field that we can.

We're not the most competitive team yet, but we're sure the hell not in the cupcake class yet.

Yeah we came within a minute of beating Barger Hill early in the regular season then in the playoffs........OUCH. They beat our brains in. I think the regular season game gave us a false sense of confidence.

Look at Detroit last year. We had a good to great defense and then we flipped a switch for the playoffs. 0 offensive TDs allowed in the three conference games to promote here. Regular season means little, but early regular season means nothing.

The middle part of Alpha should be real interesting....I'd like to think we are one of the elite teams in Alpha but with us going unboosted all last season and losing numerous close games including Barger Hill by 5 points, Kazan by 4, Demon Brigade by 3, NFL by 5 which I feel if we were boosted like everyone else we would have pulled many of those out in our favor.

We did beat Dubrovik, Reapers, and RAR unboosted but I always chalked up Dubrovnik to them not having a good handle on the tactics 1st game of the season.

Then we lose to Dubrovnik in the playoffs by 3 in OT...lots of heartbreaking losses so we need to prove this season that we can beat most of those teams this season.

The Couch Potatoes rocked us though last season which was the first time we had ever been blown out in a game...unboosted or not that wasnt cool

We did beat the Cajuns at a scrimmage late last season and the Piggies early this season which gave us some confidence but those were just scrimmages which most owners are more concerned with testing tactics then winning so take it for what its worth which is not alot

Of course just to be challenging about it we are holding our boosts once again until the meat of our schedule when everyone is 29+. Might as well as our early schedule is fairly easy with really only Kazan and the Reapers as challenging games until RAR quite a ways into the season.

We got past Kazan so one loss avenged even though they feel we only beat them due to some running game issues or something....hoping to add a few more to the list by season's end and prove we are one of the elite in Alpha...whatever that means now anyway

Good luck to everyone and may the best teams win!

No I pretty much think that based on activity, past experience/games and overall levels I got it pretty dead on. The only people who have a little ruffled feathers is me putting Detroit so high, but I feel they have the levels at least to be really high in Alpha .. had I said that all Alpha teams are lower than all Zeta teams .. the same whiners would have said that I was disrespecting Alpha .. when you try to do something like this its a lose-lose situation, but since I was the most trusted person to do it, I did.
