I think the problem is you got a little too caught up in speed towards the end Dee.

Mid 94-96 speed is definitely fast enough to get to the Qb quickly. Once you got to that point I think you should have started to invest more heavily into agility. That includes swapping your vet abilities and moving over any potential new equipment.

Once you get that fast, I think what you want to do is start focusing on ways to get free more often. So more agility, more strength (just because it will be so easy to add points to at that point) and more shed block.

You probably had pretty much the same DE as that 10 levels ago, like I do now, but mid 90s speed. Not a big change over 10 levels since I think you just went for more and more speed.

The point being that that awesome build is nerfed to death...this isn't the death of the pass rusher, the pass rushing DE is dead and cold...

I like that he sucks now, how could a DE with basically 0 STR do anything vs top level players

by making him terrible against the run and fantastic at getting around the tackles.

something many players in the NFL are exactly like.

they're called DPRs. designated pass rushers.

It's not like strength will solve all your problems. My DE has 69 strength and almost as good of speed/agility/TV, but he isn't doing anything either.

There seems to be a balance where some players are actually having some success, but I think it might be just the builds they happen to be playing.

their is no balance, you just need a lot more spd&agl and no more points towards str

The only effective DE I have seen has even more extreme spd/agi

Dwight Freeney doesn't have 0 strength.

Uh... Dwight Freeney isn't a designated pass rusher.

He's not that good against the run, and he's a speed-based player, but he's not a true DPR.

A true DPR is a guy who is pretty much never on the field except for very obvious passing downs because of how much of a liability he is.

Even the very fast/agile DEs with strength are 100% nerfed...About the only way to get the best DEs to have stats is to play against in low lev leagues since some of the OTs there will have the horrid pass blocking builds required to get pressure on the QB.

he has 56 sacks in season 7. am I missing something?
