Look, everyone knows that GLB could and probably should be a better overall product. There are communication things, sim related things, league structure things and future planning (is there any outside of 1 season at a time?)

A majority of the game is a user content type stuff like the forums, different build tactics, running teams, recruiting, and other stuff like that.

I think people getting way too upset about bort calling a spade a spade. Some APL teams had plans all season long to gut, quit, completely rebuild with low level guys, merge or what not. Others didn't want to go to WL for other reasons but most everyone understands it's because they think they'll get beat in WL and miss the playoffs meaning their team will earn less money and have to have the embarrassment of having a losing season and being relegated (which almost no team that makes it to WL has ever experienced). It's a lot easier being a big fish in a small pond plus it's nice to only worry about losing or having to really gameplan 2-3 times a season.

It's really not that much of a slap in the face. I mean, it's really not that big a deal. I don't people should take it so personally. I mean, it's really not a big deal and to harp on paying money thing is kinda lame. Just brush it off. I hate to see these people in real life when there is stuff that doesn't go their way. I mean, this is just an anonymous internet game and some people seem really offended.

Anything you invest this heavily in (I am referring to myself now) is something you take pride in or you would not invest so much in that product. Whether others agree or disagree when you spend that much money on anything you would hope for a little bit better communication and respect from the creator and those he employs to moderate his forums.

He said APL wussed out. The best teams in APL that did plan on gutting, or quitting ahead of time basically wussed out? I don't understand why that was such a taboo thing to say even if he is the owner of a game you pay money for. Some teams had legit reasons, others simply didn't want to run the risk of going 5-11, making a lot less money, having the stigma of a first ever losing season and relegation and then worry that they'll fall into the GLB death cycle. Part of that is a separate flaw of glb finances but doesn't change the action from basically wussing out. Seems simple enough. The APL teams who had legit reasons shouldn't be offended. It should be the 2-3 teams that actually did who are.

Maybe this shows some of the people who really are offended that they need to take a few steps back from GLB and reevaluate things a bit. I mean, i'm used to the internet by now. Maybe it has desensitized me somewhat but it takes a lot more to shock me, let alone truly offend my real life being. I think people tie their real being into their username a bit too much. Remember, if someone insults your GLB team, your real life personality is completely unaffected just like if a coworker calls you out for being incompetent and ugly it doesn't change your internet being.

I understand your point about linking things to a username. What point I am trying to make and am obviously doing a poor job at doing so is this. It is the principle of having any consumer of a product being insulted or called out by the creator. Whether it is a true statement or not. The statement should not have been made by the creator of the game or product or any he employs to police the game or product. That sends a message that he does not care about the flaws in the game but is more concerned with calling out APL (whether one, two, or all the teams in APL).

Someone earlier gave a good example or explanation of whether you would be treated this way in any other environment where you are a consumer of the product and support or pay for that product and then the creator disrespects you. Whether people are taking it too far again is not the point. The point is change the rules to not allow a choice instead of calling out your paying consumer base (whether a small amount of them or not)

Well I read "APL has pretty much wussed out"
And I don't read: "a small part of APL took their option, that is within my rules, to stay in APL"
To me, that is a big difference
Maybe because I'm not a native speaker and the differences between those two sentences are not as big as they seem to me...
but i'm really pissed

Just because he has it as an option, doesn't mean it's still not wussing out.

Nobody is arguing that point or better yet I am not arguing that point. Just not very professional to be pointed out by the creator of the game is one point I am trying to make

And this thread wouldn't be as EPIC as it has become, a few hundred more posts and it will be the longest thread in WL history.

That is correct, not very professional...

The APL has to work hard enough to recruit players... We have a distinct disadvantage against leagues like USA and Canada... Therefore, We don't need bort labeling our league like this!!! It is complete garbage...

considering this is an internet game...and you are not paying for Bort's friendship...him calling out a leagues top dogs about being wussy and not stepping up to the challenge isn't really even a party foul...

Bort is having fun and trying to light some sort of fire into you guys so that maybe some of you grow some balls and compete...lighten up.

Even someone as ignorant as you understands perceived differences between leagues, although we should all know its bogus. We dont need BORT making it even harder for us...

You don't pay to have fun? Last i checked i'm paying just to have the internet to play glb. Not to mention paying to go to movies, bars, sports games, buy music (lol at buying music nowadays), video games, nice clothing, and other hobbies/interests.
