Pressing fast forward cuts its value in half which doubles the framerate of the animation, so you should see the difference immediately. 4 presses (~320fps) to do anything seems to point towards a timing issue in the browser. Are you spiking your CPU usage while the animation is running, or only before it starts? Have you installed any new addons/toolbars/whatever into the browser recently? Do you remember what version number you were using when the problem started?

yeah, with the script active it's spiking throughout the replay. without the script it runs at about 45-47% (dual core).

the slowdown started about 2 weeks ago, and i hadn't just update the script when it started. i did update after to see if it fixed it. the version i was originally using would have been the one right after deathblade's speed script had a replay rewrite version, but i don't remember the version.

i didn't install any addons or anything like that. the only thing i've done to firefox recently is update to 3.5.3. i don't remember when i did that in relation to when the slowdown started, but it could certainly be linked. i would think that if that was the cause more people would be reporting it. it's not like i'm using a pentium 2 or anything, i have a 2.13ghz core 2 duo. it's about 4 years old, but i would like to think it could handle moving a colored circle in a web browser.

i do appreciate all the help.

e: cpu usage drops to 38-45% when firefox isn't the active window, and the replay runs fine with the script. gonna try a few things...

The only thing I've changed to the replay in the last month or so is the fix to make 480x1080 fields work correctly. The fix costs a bit of CPU time, but it's almost exactly the same as the old replay rewrite worked, so if the combined script worked well, then it should still work now. I haven't tried it on firefox 3.5.3, but I'd think if that were an issue, someone would have said something by now.

But assuming your computer is in proper working order, your computer shouldn't be an issue. It could always be a quirk with your graphics card drivers though, especially if you've got one of those awful Intel chips. I'll upload a version with the field fix removed and see if that helps any.

And I do have a Pentium 3 around here, and on Linux at least, it runs replays just fine. The Pentium 2 doesn't do so well though.

Please someone find a way to disable this piece of crap new home page interface. It's one of the worst things to come to this game ever.

I'd settle for a simple player sort at this point.

I'm about ready to give up buying flex in this game.

graphics card is an 8800 gts. i just updated the drivers a few minutes ago to see if that solved anything but no luck. gonna pm raiders and see if we have any firefox- or hardware-related settings in common to see if we can figure this out.

Try the version which has the 480x1080 fix removed and see if it helps: http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/60117
You'll have to uninstall your current version.
