How do you guys feel about blocking? I know Bort said that blocking helps break blocks.

If your player is still a couple seasons away and you are already headed down this path I wouldn't change too much...maybe just put gear into agility instead of speed. Who knows what the sim will be like in a couple seasons.

My level 25 agility DE is doing ok so far. Obviously he isn't high level enough to prove anything though.

Hey guys, was wondering if I could get some advice on where you think I should take my build next. This is my Level 26 DE

Strength: 48.9 Blocking: 14.75
Speed: 72.71 Tackling: 27.9
Agility: 71.45 ((92.45)) Throwing: 8
Jumping: 14.75 Catching: 9
Stamina: 20.75 Carrying: 8
Vision: 25.75 Kicking: 8
Confidence: 17.75 Punting: 9

1-1-1-1-1 Pass Rush Tree from Custom Equipment

I've got 10 Skill Points to spend and I'm not sure where to put them. I just capped strength, but should I continue to push it to the second cap? Or should I go for Vision? I think I'm gonna wait a few more levels before I get SA's as well. I realise Stamina and Confidence need building up, but I'm training them and don't want to waste SPs on them when they are so low. So basically just wondering what everyone's opinion is on the best way to go. Cheers

I'd say vision. No point in getting past the tackle and ending up in open field while the DE cut the other direction. He is already a bamf and should dominate for a while. RB will go right past you though with such low vision

ya train stamina and confidence together for a while. AND start working on shed blocks and tunnel vision now. start pushing them upwards of 7, 8, or 9 in both. you should start seeing him get better about getting around blockers then. the first two on the tree are great as well. That's what I would do with him in the short term.

i'd put all 5 in vision and the rest in TV. try to work vision up to the softcap, but its not a major priority. TV is quite effective, but its better with more vision than u currently have, so dropping all 10 in TV isn't something i'd advise right now.

oh and i agree with UD about training up stamina try to get it up to 30 or so at least but i wouldn't spend SP's on it at this point in time

I don't buy that and I don't believe Bort ever said that. He vaguely alluded to blocking for DL once but I think it came out he was more or less not being serious.

Not true. I've seen it work. I run defense for 5 different teams and I've seen Agility heavy DE's still play at a high level in fairly competitive AAA leagues. But......I would concede you are half right. Because for whatever reason, it seems like some Agility builds are excelling as usual and some are just flat out struggling. My own build is struggling but then I see guys with identical builds having decent sack/hurry numbers in other leagues.

It might just be some leagues have better built tackles than others? About all I can figure at this point.

Might be some truth there to your edit, lol. The only difference I can see between my own DE and the DE's doing very well on my other teams is these other DE's do have Strength at the 2nd cap. My personal DE build is about halfway to the 2nd cap. It makes me wonder if that might be part of it. Otherwise he has 65 Speed and soft capped Vision. I will probably take Strength to the 2nd cap and see what happens.

he said it helped but not how much. kind of like jumping helps punters... it clearly isn't necessary but apparently is part of the equation.

Eh. Well it would be about the last thing I would train and I would never put SP into it. I'm just sayin, I've seen enough really high level DE builds that I have a hard time believing it matters enough to worry about.

Ya he said it's a very small part of the equation but it's there.
