Again, you can't have a balanced game if you allow free reign on the choices.

There are just certain things that will lead to ultimate cookie cutter builds.

There are basically three options:

1. Allow no choices. Make all players the same.

2. Allow some choices. Some players are the same.

3. Allow all choices. All players eventually choose to be the same.

Number 3 is the most popular choice (myself included) but it isn't reasonable and it certainly isn't good for the game.

We currently have ZERO choices for our players. This will allow us at least some level of customization.

I disagree with your evaluation or number three, with all the speed freaks on this game. Personally I'm more into Vision. I do however see your point, thank you for the clarification.

I asked Bort about that a couple weeks ago - NGTH.

I don't understand how something as easy as this could end up on the NGTH list, especially with the creation of this new system. Custom slots already exist for nearly everything already. How can it be difficult to add the remaining custom slots?

It isn't difficulty. The supposed problem is that once defense gets more custom slots, the offense will have to have them too which leads to massive unbalance in the game.

I disagree, but that appears to be the stance.

Ugh I hate to say it to you but "go away, no"

It was all discussed (almost to the point of insanity). We had a Combo OL build but just couldn't make it work without it being overpowered. There is still plenty of potential for OL diversity.

OK thanks - read through the thread to here and saw that discussion re-iterated.

The idea of like a pulling SPECIALIST o-line intrigued me is all. Built for pulling, downfield blocking, screens, etc. Could introduce speed into that without making an overpowered o-line, by majorly sacrificing strength/blocking.

Major: speed, agility, vision
Minor: strength, blocking, stamina or confidence

But OK, no suggestions on new/different archtypes Thanks!!

I'd love to help out by trying to backup both spots, but am kinda hog-tied due to the archetype I picked at the creation of mah dude. Who knew that I wouldn't know exactly how a team would need me 6 months down the road?"

Anyway, just my $.02 but I wouldn't listen to me either.

[ ] gets it
[X] doesn't get it

you're not hog tying yourself - don't get caught up in the label - well built LB's of ANY of the archetypes - will be good players for ANY LB job

Pretty sure that's a yes.

will we be told at least before the playoffs end if this will happen or not? that way owners can properly plan their team for next season

Assume it will happen - if for some reason it won't, I'll let everyone know the minute I find out.

I've never been able to make a true OLB work in my 3-4 at ILB. Maybe I'm a bad DC? Probably. But, I just thought I'd point that out.

Yes because power backs all of the sudden become elusive backs halfway through their career and 300 pound run stuffing DE's all of a sudden become speed rushers. This will force people to be more focused on the types of builds they want. And there's nothing saying you can't choose a particular archetype and build your player differently within that archetype, you just need to be aware of how the gains/penalties/bonuses for that archetype work.

This is what makes this a great idea. I can chose a Zone Specialist CB and go heavy on the SV and just dont worry about SDC much. With a/e you could easily have a 90vis CB with 20 in SV, who cares about SDC after that, u can just load up on swat ball

Right OK, as I just posted.

The only way to make it happen would be to massively turn down the incentive to use this archtype anywhere else. Make the str/blk both minors so no non-pulling specialist in their right midn would use it. Or maybe that isn't the spirit of these, anyway, to have easy choices...

I'm surprised no one has said thanks for the 300 flex for player creation btw. I thought that was nice of us.

Sweet now I can build a WR who won't be able to catch passes until he hits level 45... (yes Im that bad at building crap bag WRs..)

Do you know how to fix it? I'm all ears - please pm the solution to me.

Think of the archetypes as being the focus of the build, not the entire build.
