I think there is a major change coming soon. Bort is tightening up the salary cap, we are talking about jamming WRs, and there are a lot of new traits and abilities to add.
Most of the traits in the game are like the VAs in this game: OPed or useless. I've asked for an overhaul of the traits to try and get new ones (Bort liked a lot of my suggestions for new traits), but I think Bort is a little single-minded in his way to fix something that has perceived value: the nerf-hammer.
Instead of the nerf-hammer, I offered 7 other solutions that fix the root cause of the problems instead of simply dealing with the current symptom.

That's not really fair, honestly.
It's better to aim in the middle than aim at the top. Nerf the things that are blatantly stronger than everything else, and buff the things that are obviously weaker than everything else. Aiming to make everything as fast as the fastest horse just creates power creep, which eventually destroys aspects of the game.
I've seen people say builds already have too many SP, so power creep is probably something to be avoided.

That said, I agree that a lot of the traits are either boring, or just not very useful.
10% increased salary for a couple extra points of snap reaction for example, isn't even remotely tempting. We have had a trait suggestion thread up since the beginning through

Big Heart is still crying in the corner from the last three times Bort hit it.
I didn't say that the nerf-hammer wasn't a possible solution, I suggested that there are a lot of tools in the toolbox. The easiest solution is to nerf something and it became the most common solution. I was hoping to see a little more in the proactive way of looking at balancing the traits.

Yeah, that was for suggesting new traits.
After playing three seasons, I'm at the point where it is clear that some traits are about as attractive as the current state of Big Heart while others are pretty clearly the best options.
The more we push at the salary cap, the more the cap penalty traits become less attractive: except for superstar. The reason is that the results are equal to the pains of taking the trait. A 50% reduction in Snap Awareness probably still wouldn't lure me into taking it because of the opportunity cost of not taking a trait that gives a bigger bonus.

I've always been a fan of the decreased cost, decreased cap traits like Unpredictable.
There's also the opposite, some traits could increase the cost but also increase the cap significantly.
