Awesome idea. I didn't read further than the first post, but wouldn't the effect of stamina have to be decreased or modified?

Add stamina instead of speed or agility in your build progression, its a strategy and its about time a league like this should be added, no more cookie cutters!

Edit: I wanted to add that I think that there should be no OOP penalties for this one. That, or we should at least be told what they are.

Would make it too easy - keep the OOPPs to make building more cagey

/\/\ This.
I am looking at the option to build an ironman team as high end players has a: gotten boring & b: required the build to be modified due to changes.

I think you're both wrong.

First, the entire premise of this league (as stated by the OP) is that it's based on old school football where players had to play both sides. That means that every person had to play two positions and wouldn't be considered OOP for either of them.

Example: Say your RDE is also your HB? If that is what he does every single game, why would he be penalized for it? The OOP penalties are based on a player's supposed lack of familiarity with a different position, right? Logically, if he plays that many snaps for two different positions, he should not be penalized because of the title of his character....

Second, people are already going to have to build Iron Man specific players (due to the limitations of the roster requiring two sided play as well as an increased need for stamina). There's already going to be a niche market for players. Why should there be some arbitrary penalties that makes building a decent player an act of fruition? Trying to fill a roster of guys that remotely complement each other is going to be impossible unless you build them all yourself/your team stays together the whole way. Also, not knowing what the OOP penalties are will just serve to make the game more frustrating since you may land the perfect HB/SS Hybrid only to see that he gets hammered for the OOP penalty for playing both sides.

I guess all I'm saying is that keeping them is a)not logical and b)only serves to detract from the potential fun this league could be. Just because a feature makes things "harder" doesn't equate to it making the game more fun or even more challenging (since we don't know what they are, we can't compensate for them).

Bort, make this league, but keep the OOP penalties out (or at least tell us what they are).

But the OOPPs will make the "perfect" build that bit harder to achieve and force compromise..."is the best LB/HB build based on a LB or an HB?" etc

i think the OOPPs or how they're dealth with could be the major stumbling block for this as it's obviously a contentious issue

You have to have the penalties! Otherwise we are just building a multi-talented every down player that are currently built like a special teams only player and thats it! you wouldn't even need to name the player position all the playes would have 50 tackling, 50 blocking 70 speed except maybe WR/CB/QB. It would all be cookie cutter forever. BUT if you desiginated an actual DE in his position he would be less effective at FB because thats the strategy choice you made and even know they could all be 50-50-70 they are at least "better" suited to your gameplan becuase of the individual position choices you made!

you miss the entire point of the ironman leagues if you think there should be a perfect build. The whole point would be to work as a team to cover all the positions without having a player specific to that position. The fun will be determining what combo to build then how to balance the 2 roles of each player.

I have a combination idea, that I'm not sure will work or not, still thinking it out. Think about when(if) you played in HS. (I went to a small HS) Ok yea, you played both O and D and some special teams. Maybe you liked one side better, so you considered yourself a HB playing LB, but for other players they were just as good at both.

It would go like this, when you create an Iron Man player, or when you join a team you must choose if you like O or D better, or no preference.

If you choose O or D you will have the OOPP on the opposite side of the ball. If you choose no pref you are given half the OOPP on each side of the ball in order to make it even.

This is probably too complicated, and if I had to choose I vote no OOPPs, Unless it makes it that much more unlikely for the league to be implimented.

As a whole I love the Iron Man League Idea

I think you missed the point of the " "" "'s in my post....there will be no perfect builds in the stark industries short roster football league, juet less terrible ones

NB see other posts of mine re compromise, keeping OOPPs, generally being a massive fan of the likely range of builds for various situations
