Obviously there are not as many folks playing GLB as there were at its peak. But we are a small operation - there are only so many of us and only so many hours in the day. We have to pick our projects carefully. If we were about to shut a game down we would not bother making changes to it.
and obviously WG only picked one project that amounted to anything, WG abandoned the base that built them, WG expanded into others without developing core code to build other games from, and WG has never researched other successful game companies to comprehend what they have done to continue their following(marketing, customer feedback, research of current userbase, etc). To say that WG has learned much from their success from GLB1 including in the numerous debacles of admins cheating, lack of testing for pre-releases, and so on is not credible to have this attitude with the userbase. The small group at WG needs experienced consulting if they wish to have the success of GLB1 in future games, imo. Until then, WG is just throwing sit at a wall and seeing what sticks.
