Ladder is ELO based, so Gold teams will likely have higher ELO therefore give more points for beating them.

Generally, being in a Gold league should definitely help your ladder ranking more than being in Copper.

Ya that just kinda makes me care less about the Ladder system.

Your not the only one...they had me hooked until I found out the league structure....
10 teams per league....9 Regular Season games......Talk about flying through seasons of gameplay.
Hope their isn't player decline in GLB2 cuz hot dayum their careers won't be long at all

When you start making it known that one league is better than the other league. That is when the term lolscrims gets thrown around. Tournaments lose meaning. Regions lose meaning. And we are right back to the downhill spiral of boredom that GLB1 hit in terms of forum engagement.

I mean the new game is going to be interesting as far as playing building wise. That is probably what I will spend most of my time on GLB2 doing and coordinating over here at GLB1. You never know they might end up cracking on the vanilla OAI and letting us have something similar to what we have here at GLB. The game is in alpha and will change many many times so those people that are counting it out are doing so prematurely.

Well there won't be an OAI or a DAI prior to going into Beta test mode for sure. But it is likely they are going to see what kind of divide the launch brings between the 2 games and make decisions from there.

We aren't having a Moon League.

Ya but all the competition is going to be bottled up in Gold making the ladder games less essential than league games thus making them lolscrims. This is where GLB1 forum activity for leagues completely drained. Everything that was actually fun about the game totally lost meaning when the WL was introduced except the WL. Just sort of depressing because I currently like the ladder structure but it holds as much meaning as GLB1 rankings under that structure.

Except Gold leagues are essentially GLB before "everything lost meaning" because of the WL.

At least that's what I've heard from Bort and other admins...that people miss rivalries between leagues. There won't be a best Gold league.

I guess when I think of that structure I look at the cloud we have in GLB1 currently rather than looking at it like 8 Pro leagues of teams.

Lost meaning in terms of everything about the game that was interesting prior to WL (Regional pride, rankings, tournaments) that helped engage the community in the forums. No doubt WL made a more competitive league for top tier teams. And ultimately that probably had to happen in an environment where teams were on vastly different levels of competition. I don't see that as being the huge hurdle in GLB2 and I loved when the GLB community discussed dotball in the forums for days on end.
