The O dictates the Defensive stats. Granted some guys have a better chance of getting a standout stat than others, but it's the Offense that dictates where the play goes, and therefor which D guy gets the stats. Some games, the only tackles I got were in the running game, as I only got thrown on twice the entire game.

This is kinda stupid... Basically a 4th string CB could play 5 plays in a season and get 2 PDs and a tackle and be considered "elite"

Do you really believe that? I hope its a joke cuz it seems like your just bitter about having a mediocre CB. Ouch. Id be sour too.

I've been close every year since S2, but not quite in the black yet.
S2: 47 tackles, 33 PD, 6 INT
S3: 47 tackles, 37 PD, 5 INT
S4: 38 tackles, 21 PD, 5 INT (2 for TDs)
I did break 4 tackles on interception run backs last season though....so I got that going for me now. [/Carl Spackler]
All this on a very good team w/ great depth too. My guy only averaged 36 plays last season and we've lost a total of 8 games since we started way back in S1.

According to this system, it's true. That doesn't make it right, but that corner would still be in the elite class. I'm of the opinion there should be a "caught against" and "yards against" stat for corners. That's really the only way to quantify how good they are.

Maybe your just bitter because your formula for being elite is downright stupid.
Also this formula doesn't take into account true elite CBs. I get alot of tackles on the RB and teammates' WRs and TEs. A true elite is not one dimensional as your formula suggest.
If we only take tackles on my recievers into account, I meet your formula too. Sorry I'm able to take care of more than one WR. I can cover RBs and more.

And just to further this point, it actually happened. I'd consider my own corner to be good, but not elite. However, due to punt return duties, he was in on three defensive plays, no tackles, one pass defensed. This makes him infinitely better than any corner, ever, according to this formula.
