I've never seen a guard pick up blitzing OLB coming across the formation. I mean think that through a second, the guard has to;

1. Identify the blitzing backer across the formation (out of his vision cone)
2. Turn 90 degrees
3. Accelerate behind the entire formation.
4. Cover more ground than the LB who doesnt have to turn and is much faster.

No way...show me a clip of this in real life.

Now if the entire OL shifted to pick up the blitzer, that'd be fine but the RG with Super X-ray vision and Jet pack boosters sucks.

Watch the RG....this is what's wrong with the 3-4 scheme.

I think that RDE is a bit poofta-ish for a 3-4, and you might want to not double the FB.

What really needs to change in the 3-4 AI, IMO, is that any LB assigned man coverage on the HB/FB, and that back stays into block - the LB should just then pass rush. Or at least have the option. It's crazy that both those LBs will decide to go smother the FB because the HB stayed in blocking.

Put a pass rushing DE at ROLB and shift the linebackers strong side. Blitz the ROLB and he should fit in the gap between the LT blocking the RDE and the LG helping the C.

Here are some from my last scrimmage using a 3-4 and 3-3-5:

More Jetpack Guards. The RG is waiting on him LOL....

Kurieg: What does poofta-ish mean? The RDE on that play is a DT so he's not a speed guy for sure.

Well, I know the RG on our team has high speed/agility because he's a pulling a guard.
