Comparing week 16 matchups doesn't work because they are arbitrary. Teams of even strength don't always (or even often) get matched up. I wasn't around last year, but this year the West won that by one single game (for those of you who have trouble, 9-7 is one game away from being 8-8) Not exactly dominance anyway. With the championship game this goes to 9-8.
The scrimmage partners are loosely based on when you fell out of the playoffs, but people don't take them seriously, so they don't work. The only worthwhile comparison is the championship game, but it is far too small a sample size.
The only place you can really make a comparison is at the extreme ends. Do I agree the West's worst is better than the East's worst? Sure. Evidence supports that the East's best is better than the West's best. If I wanted to be snide about it, I could say that that only proves that the west is more mediocre than the east.
