It's not bias when an obscure stat that can be very misleading isn't used in comparing players.

E.D. 275 Carries with 22 TDs
Greg 490 Carries with 20 TDs

I think there a huge difference there.

It isnt E.D. fault that he didnt get more carries but it isnt Gregs fault either that he got more carries. It can be as simple as E.D.s team ran the ball only in the redzone but Gregs team ran the ball more no matter where they were not just in goal line stiuations or in the redzone. There are a lot of factors in football.

It's certainly not obscure. The word is situational.

Ack, I'm agreeing with HoggLife. Time to step away from the computer and do some inner reflection.

We ran the ball just as much but we have 2 RB that are both good. The thing is that it is not situational TILL you can make it so ED only come in at 3 and 1-3. You cant do that yet so that proves that ED gets better stats for his Attempts.

might as well name the DE award the Lawrence Jackson Award.

and DT award = Hot Potato award

Hot Potato has/had the D-line award name.

i know but now that it is split it should be Law Jackson for DE and Hot Potato for DT

I kind of liked how they placed a lot of weight on the completion percentage, interceptions, and yards per completion.

Yeah but when you throw the ball 850 or 900 times, stuff's gonna happen. (I'm not gonna say any names).

Yes, it's obscure. YPC is a much better indicator. TDs are too situational to be a good indicator of overall ability. Mike Alstott had 3 less TDs than OJ Simpson, but about 1000 less carries. Mike Alstott > OJ Simpson? Of course not, well, except for all that other stuff of course.

Well E.D. has all of them on YPC, but he demolishes them on his TD rate.

I'm not arguing their merits, just the merits of the stat and how leaving it off is in no way bias. And to Johnny Wordplay above, until TD% is mentioned on ESPN, or listed as a stat on someone's NFL.com page, or brought up in barroom debates; it's obscure.

They talk about TDs all the time, it's very rare for a guy to get a giant amount of TDs as an RB and not be getting the lion's share of the carries, it just doesn't work that way. Every year the top RBs are getting their 20-25 carries per game, so any differential isn't remotely close to the differential in carries that E.D. has compared to Alstott, and if a such case ever came up you better believe they'd be talking about it on ESPN. That would be a pretty hot RB to talk about if he did that, he would be nationally famous instantly.

come on, TSE, you're smarter than that.

it's not uncommon for teams to have a goal line back.

That also lead the league in YPC?

lol...you didn't say that in your post, now did you?

you just talked about guys not getting a lot of TD when they don't get the lion's share of the carries.

this whole thing with your RB is pretty easy to see based on the stats that i listed in the initial thread. however, why don't you just spell things out instead of arguing with people. make the statistical case for your guy.
