Ok, looks like I need to clarify what I said in the first post since so many people seem to be misinterpreting it. I never once said that my logos are the best or "far above anything you or someone you know could do for you". I said that I've seen lots of teams using pre-existing pro sports logos, which I think is pretty lame. I've also seen lots of teams using graphics that are just plain low quality and frankly look like crap (i'm sure you've seen some too). I've you've somehow interpreted that as me suggesting that my work is the best then you're wrong and reading too much into what I said. Obviously my work is not the absolute best and undoubtedly you've probably seen better work (there's lots of slick logo designs out in the world).

I want GLB to be a cool experience for everyone, and for me (a very visual person) that includes having quality and original graphics. I'm able to create such graphics according to what you'd like, so I've put the offer out there. Shoot me. Funny how a simple (and entirely optional!) offer has caused so many spiteful people to chime in with their misinformed and arrogant opinions.

And keep in mind people that the image size we're dealing with here is 75x75, which is freakin' small especially if the team owner wants the location and/or team name included. Doesn't give you a lot of room to play with.

Looks to me like those guys mostly just do image resizing.

And another reason why I decided to charge a small few (a measly $3) is because if I would've offered my services for free then I would be flooded with requests and I simply don't have the time nor the desire to take on that much work. Charging a small fee filters a lot of that out and has given me all that I need.

rather then shitting on this guys idea you could've just said nothing and let the people who want to spend a WHOPPING $3 on a custom logo with team location/name see it. But NO!! you had to be your own little attention whore and take the focus off Eggplants work. (which isn't bad and is certainly BETTER then some of the other logos I've seen) and onto your tard attitude.

This guy does them for free, he does take donations. His work is excellent. The site is under maintenance until the 14th or 15th, he got some new equipment that will make it easier to do the artwork. This dude is good.

My work is unique and clean, and everyone I've done a graphic for has been very satisfied.

People don't want to charge for their work? Great, they must have a lot of free time to do that. Everyone wants something for free, it seems.

An unfortunate side-effect of the internet is that people who are otherwise spineless and nonconfrontational magically become tough-guy jerks when they post on messageboards.

Are you honestly a graphic designer? I doubt that and wouldn't tell people that unless it is true. First off, as someone who IS in the graphic design field- I can certainly tell you I wouldn't create any logo for anyone for 3 bucks...my colleagues would laugh their ass off at me.

Custom logos run anywhere from $200 to $1000 unless it is a close contact or referral.

Your work isn't horrible, but it is certainly not evident of a graphic design background...more like you bought Adobe Photoshop, played with it, someone complimented you, then you started to call yourself a graphic designer. It doesn't work that way.

I don't have any problem with someone trying to make some money, but I find it a slap in the face of my profession to know someone is doing "custom logos" from scratch for 3 dollars. It just doesn't make sense to me.

If I am right, then just tell people you can create logos and will accept donations.

Honestly, I'd think more people would be complimenting Eggplant on his work than bitching about the measly $3 he's asking for some pretty damn nice efforts.

Well, that is one thing I will agree with at least. If you can get a logo for 3 bucks, by all means do it...
