oh yeah, the same San Jose that just lost a squeaker to LA 17-13...it keeps getting better

don't worry about it Mystico............ You're trying to deflate the hard-on that comes from being a small role piece on a good team.

I know I am wasting my time with him, but I am moreso pointing out to the casual reader what the facts are. He likes to get on attack mode instead of being an adult. What does fall semester start?

your deductive logic skills are amazing, and your comparisons are quite simple...you really cant look and see the bigger picture
1st off i am not debating that your loss wasnt somewhat of an upset - i am telling you that if you dont think the San Jose win wasn't an upset you have no scope of what an upset is so you should be quiet
2nd i never said the specifics of the winning process - i am telling you flat out what is considered an upset, please don't try and tell me what i am saying.
I'll explain out my reasoning really slow for you....
- San Jose was a 7-9 team last season
- they came into this season losing their first 2 games
....do you see the pattern here yet?
- OTR was 3 rounds deep in the playoffs last season
...getting clearer?
the fact that they turned a corner after that game is moot - if you look at the events that took place before the upset you would realize it was in fact the purist definition of an upset you could possibly get
as for the rest of your comments, your reading comprehension level must be that of Mr. Gump himself, i was jabbing DC about the power rankings, and Tooly about his infamous "this is why i lost posts"
Of course - my mistake about the crying...i mean commenting/critique whatever the fuck else you want to use...CONGRADULATIONS! you can use a thesaurus! i swear to god they need to set up a GLB support group for people like you...
OMG the sim cheated me out of the win...like it matters haha - did you really think you were gonna get regulated out of here any sooner, or not get knocked out of the playoffs in round 1?

"OMG the sim cheated me out of the win"
I said this?
I never said it was NOT an upset with SJ, just saying it isn't a crazy upset, and that, in fact, they just took the second best team in our conference down to the wire. Might is have been a big an upset then, sure, to that point probably the biggest. Just saying it is not absolutely the biggest because of how good SJ is. You see, many teams just were put together this season, and thus their team ratings were lower in the beginning of the year. as they have gotten better, the team has as well.
I also asked if you were basing it on last seasons results....asked that in about my first response. Again, many teams made many changes, it is not a year in year out thing for teams that are not great can get better...and quick.
So you think we will get knocked out of the playoffs in week 1..ok, see, that is your opinion, and although you present nothing to back up your opinion (not surprising), I am accepting of your opinion. Am I going to kick and cry like you, no, no need, it is a game, a free one at that. I don't know how far we will go, and considering the mass changes Frost had to make this offseason, I am glad we are where we are right now.
Crying does not = commenting/ critiquing. If you need a thesaurus for that, please go to summer school.
So wait, in a post directed at me, you want me to interpret that you were speaking to someone else? yeeeeah
OK Lucas
PS, ok, use that equation for Voodoo vs Reno
I did look at the big picture, you are looking at 0-2 like it is 0-8...and 7-9 is only 1 game under .500 last i checked. Probably 1 or 2 wins from the playoffs. You act as it they were the colts of the 80's

so if Reno wins out and ends 8-8 does that mean your game isn't an upset any more?

depends on if we lose our last 2. if we lose both, nope, not nearly as much.
Too bad we can't put up poll's on here, I would love to see what the voting would be.

not nearly as much? what the fuck kind of answer is that? its either an upset or it isnt
according to you the San Jose win wasn't an upset because of their current record, so you getting upset will be meaningless if your records are similar

Actually no, calling an upset can absolutely change. There is no such thing as "it is or it isn't"
As for the degree of the upset, same thing, how the season plays out can make all the difference.
When Navy beat ND, it appeared to be an upset, but then we realized that ND just was no good, thus, not really an upset. Same goes the opposite way for Illinois this past season. They beat Wisconsin, it was an upset at the time, until they went on to beat just about everyone else, thus, no longer a bug upset.
On the other hand, when Kentucky beat LSU, it was kind of an upset....however, as the season went on, it became a HUGE upset because Kentucky proved to not be that good, and LSU was pretty awesome.
Thats "what the fuck kind of answer that is" jagoff
Tired of you mouth already and i have been around on this forum for 2 weeks. How the hell do people put up with your garbage and big F'ing mouth.
Do me a favor, ask your coach to send your second rate FB up the middle next time we play, too bad there aren't injuries in this game.

I think an upset is when a team that shouldn't have won, wins. I think it becomes more of an upset if that particular win ends up being the turning point for a teams entire season. I think after the season we could look back and pick WHICH upset was the biggest, and had the biggest impact for any individual team.
Personally, I was surprised as hell we won that game against OTR, but I am biased obviously. Speaking as a DC, it's important that the players are setting their tactics to the team's game-plan, and we needed that win for the defensive players to 'buy in'.
Though...there's probably a game yet to be played that will have playoff implications to out-rank that win on the 'Upset List'.

I couldn't agree more on 90 % of your post, especially the part i quoted. this is very much my point. The level of an measuring an upset is the end of the season, as the severity of the upset can ABSOLUTELY change based on the outcomes. As it stands not, SJ is a damn good team that nearly beat friggin LA and is in the playoffs (by the way, how was this matchup missed when previewing this past set of games?!?!)
I do differ from you in saying if it is "the turning point" for one team or the other it defines it. I don't really think that matters too much. If patriots of the 80s beat the broncos of the steelers of the 70's, it would have been a huge upset no matter what else happened.
Michigan lost to appy state, then went on to win the best non-BCS bowl game. Huge upset, (oh, and Appy state won their 3rd straight title), what happened when they bitch slapped florida doesn't change that.
Good post Snake (is that REALLY Jake?!?!_

I'd call that an upset if Okie could ever beat ANYONE in a bowl game..lol
They sold their soul to the devil to unrightfully play in the BCS Title game a few years back...Boise and WV are their penance
