The WR has .4 majors and the FB gets .5

The FB has to buy more extra SAs, but the WR has them already.

For archetype, the FB takes Rusher and loses Speed as a major, or Scat and loses Carry as a major.

The similarly, the WR either goes Speedster for more speed, or Power for more carry.

Imo, Rusher FB is the way to go.

Go short and light, and build for elusive style to use Slippery VA because there's no LoS to use Bruiser.

Edit: all of that assumes and endgame build.
If you're just going to screw around for a few seasons, probably easiest to go Speedster WR and not worry about long term fumbling issues.

Looks like I'll be making a FB if HB doesn't become free by day 48

Actually if I was in your position I probably would go with the CB returner if I couldn't make a HB. GLB set it up so that the CB was the default returner ideal with the SA tree lining up for that best. HB (elusive) just ended up being the better way to go once people doped out the SA's and major skills. So if I was forced to not go with a HB for whatever reason, I would go with CB as my second choice.

CB has to take Returner, which has
.4 majors and needs to buy the SAs (Juke, Spin)

The Rusher FB will be 230 pounds even at minimum weight, and have easy access to Cover Up -- both of which are very nice for fumble resistance, without having to invest in anti-fumble % gear. The FB is also more flexible, because of the major in Strength. You can hit Strength hard, for better tackle breaking and fumble resistance, or go for higher max speed.

Another good thing about HB returners is that you can use them on offense, especially in the early portion of their career.

Thanks. Good to know.

it would be highly unlikely that hb will be free after day 41. you pretty much have to be very active on day 41 as people retire their old players, but before the influx of new HB are made. just looking at today's stats, you would need at least 45 HB to retire to be able to make a free one.

the other big thing about returners' success is their stc and team mentality. here's a returner with no stops, but i was given some input on how a few players are built, so we have the returner building based on his blocking. http://glb.warriorgeneral.com/game/player_awards.pl?player_id=4611080. if only builds were involved, there would be a ton of returners that have "better" builds. i have had many teams with fantastically built returners, but the team doesnt allow me any input into any blockers so those returners usually only have mediocre careers. and any team using 2way stops are way behind the curve (unless rawss is building them)

What's a two way stop and is there an example of one around?

a two way STOP is a gunner on coverage teams but also blocks on return teams, so he's built as a slightly weaker gunner (a little less SPD/STR/TKL for example) with those points instead put into BLK....
retired 2 way STOP: http://glb.warriorgeneral.com/game/player.pl?player_id=4373159

69 is no where near enough blocking or strength and way too much speed to be an effective blocker,

http://glb.warriorgeneral.com/game/player.pl?player_id=4445580 CEQ was in strength before he retired.

Heavier focus on blocking because it is harder to block. He did alright on tackling but had no FF ability. If you want your STOP to be an effective blocker in any way whatsoever you have to abandon FFs.

This might be the most useful thread in the history of GLB.
